Job description

Framestore’s London-based Immersive team is looking for an Unreal Engine /Game Animator to join us on an exciting upcoming project.

As a Game Animator, you’ll collaborate with the Animation Lead and Art Director to create high-quality, story-driven animations that capture the project’s unique style and pace. You’ll work closely with the Tech Anim and Pipeline teams, providing valuable feedback to improve character setups, rigs, and tools. You’ll animate both primary and secondary elements, crafting the motions, gestures, and expressions of 3D characters and objects for high-end experiences.

You’ll need to work well under pressure, remain open to direction and creative changes, and maintain a sharp eye for detail. You’ll ensure tasks are completed on schedule, maintaining regular communication with Production and department Leads to meet project deadlines and align expectations.

What you’ll do

  • Create high-quality, story-driven animations for 3D characters and objects.
  • Collaborate with the Animation Lead and Art Director to ensure animations align with the project’s style.
  • Work closely with Tech Anim and Pipeline teams to refine character setups, rigs, and tools.
  • Submit sequences for review and address notes and feedback efficiently.
  • Continuously develop your skills, familiarising yourself with new tools, software, and technology., Our London studio is fully accessible, with step-free entry, accessible toilets on all floors, and quiet spaces available. Requirements

  • Extensive experience as an Animator within the Games industry with strong experience in keyframe animation.
  • Extensive experience in Unreal Engine, including knowledge of control rig and sequencer.
  • Experience with cycle-based gameplay animation.
  • Demonstrable experience with Maya.
  • A strong understanding of physical motion, weight, balance, texture, and form.
  • An understanding of rigs, typical rigging set-ups, animation pipelines, and data transfer between tools.
  • A proven commitment to creative collaboration within a team and across departments.
  • Adaptability and a willingness to learn new processes and technical skills.

You might also have

  • Experience with stylised character animation.
  • Experience in XR games.
  • A working knowledge of Modelling, Rigging, and Mel/Python scripting.
  • Previous experience working with motion capture data.
  • A traditional animation and/or art background.
  • Knowledge of human and animal anatomy and life drawing skills.
