Job description
This position is responsible for developing and maintaining Maven’s real-time multi-camera capture software, debugging problems at the hardware/software boundary, scaling fleet infrastructure, and helping install and bring up new labs on-site., * Develop, test and maintain Maven’s C++ capture software: synchronized multi-camera acquisition at 300 fps, GPU video encoding, force-plate integrations, and a multi-stage post-capture processing pipeline.
-
Investigate and fix problems where hardware meets software using logs, instrumentation and measurement.
-
Travel to partner facilities to install new labs: 2-3 day on-site builds, followed by debugging until everything works.
-
Build and maintain our fleet-management software for lab health monitoring, remote updates and provisioning, using technologies such as Go, MQTT, AWS IoT Core, and S3.
-
Write and maintain Python tools for operations, diagnostics and data processing.
-
Contribute to first-of-a-kind hardware projects spanning everything from mechanical prototypes to circuit design.
-
Support the coaches and trainers who operate our labs day-to-day, and turn their bug reports into durable fixes.
Requirements
Maven Baseball seeks a highly-motivated early-career Embedded Software Engineer (new grad to ~2 years of experience) to work on our capture labs - the high-speed camera and force-plate systems behind every Maven assessment., * Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer/electrical engineering, related field or equivalent experience.
-
0-2 years of experience; new grads are encouraged to apply - we hire for problem-solving ability and trajectory, not years.
-
Proficiency in C++ or another systems language (C, Rust, Go) and a genuine interest in going deep on performance-critical code; working knowledge of Python.
-
Strong debugging skills: methodical, evidence-driven, and comfortable with problems that don’t reproduce on demand.
-
Hands-on curiosity about how things work - robotics, embedded projects, 3D printers, PC builds, car or bike repair - it’s the interest that counts.
-
Willingness to travel several times a year and do physically demanding install work.
-
Ability to clearly articulate and communicate technical concepts to non-technical users.
-
Excitement to be a part of a tight-knit team tackling new problems every day.
-
Machine vision or camera experience, GPU programming, networking (time synchronization, high-bandwidth capture), hands-on electronics, or a baseball background are a plus.
