Job description

The Epic Systems Analyst V supports the Clinical Care and Patient Engagement Technologies organization by serving as a consultant-level subject matter expert responsible for the analysis, design, configuration, implementation, optimization, and ongoing support of KP HealthConnect applications. This role evaluates complex clinical and business requirements and translates them into scalable, efficient technology solutions that align with organizational goals, Epic best practices, regulatory requirements, and industry standards. Leveraging extensive analytical, technical, and workflow design expertise, the Epic Systems Analyst V provides technical leadership for large-scale projects, module implementations, incident resolution, upgrades, and optimization initiatives. The position identifies opportunities to improve system functionality, operational efficiency, and the end-user experience while supporting all phases of the application lifecycle. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in system administration and change management processes, and is a trusted partner and advisor to clinical leaders, business stakeholders, vendors, and cross-functional IT teams., In addition to the responsibilities listed below, this position is responsible for leading complex system configuration build, testing, validation, and ongoing production support of assigned applications across instances of Epic. This position will possess clinical or IT systems knowledge and experience to develop and support safe and high-quality care using the electronic health record. This position will perform in-depth and precise investigation and documentation of future-state operational specifications and application functionality. This position is responsible for developing and documenting the internal procedures that will be used in conjunction with Epic applications. Some of the unique challenges this position will face include analyzing clinical and business operations, investigating user preferences and workflows, prioritizing requested system changes, and serving as a liaison between end users, third parties, and Epic implementation staff. This position develops and documents internal procedures, collects information and prepares specifications of system enhancements, analyzes functionality in new releases, and tests each new release.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with technical and project team leaders to resolve system problems and application-specific issues.
  • Communicates with product users and suppliers to share information, identify opportunities, resolve problems, prioritize customer requirements, and maintain continuous improvement through customer feedback.
  • Escalates unresolved or critical issues, risks or problems to system engineers and management.
  • Meets timelines and provides cross-functional resources to drive the delivery of appropriate, sustainable, and prompt solutions.
  • Plans and performs complex system configuration.
  • Manages the stability, availability, and performance of enterprise systems and systems in one or more additional IT domains (e.g., systems, applications, network, databases, storage, security) by performing complex systems analysis to identify problems, trends, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Plans the maintenance, modification, and documentation of applications.
  • Monitors the service of first and second level support for enterprise systems and systems in one or more additional IT domains by diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving complex incidents to minimize system issues.
  • Creates complex documentation of new and existing system configuration and procedural information, and supports others in ensuring system configurations documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Provides complex application-oriented administration and technical support for production and non-production environments.
  • Leads hardware and software changes into environments and one or more additional IT production environments by performing impact analyses of system changes.
  • Develops guidelines to prevent and/or resolve recurring problems.
  • Recommends and executes complex performance tuning and optimization activities.
  • Evaluates new complex application packages and identifies anticipated systems requirements for planning purposes.

  • Relationship Building, * Minimum four (4) years experience working with EPIC or comparable health system software OR Minimum four (4) years scripting or programming experience.
  • Minimum two (2) years in a leadership role working with IT or operational teams.
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Social Science, Education, Business, Health Care or related field and Minimum eight (8) years working in IT or operations. Additional equivalent work experience may be substituted for the degree requirement., * Four (4) years experience in EPIC administration and configuration.
  • Four (4) years experience in the administration and custom configuration of large of-the-shelf applications or software packages.

Pay Range: $127200 - $164560 / year Kaiser Permanente strives to offer a market competitive total rewards package and is committed to pay equity and transparency. The posted pay range is based on possible base salaries for the role and does not reflect the full value of our total rewards package. Actual base pay determined at offer will be based on labor market data, internal alignment, and a candidate’s years of relevant work experience, education, certifications, skills, and geographic location.
