Job description

Support all internal networks across UK sites and European offices, reporting to the Head of Networks
Work with and provide cover for the Customer Networks and Product Development Manager
Contribute to IT network project delivery, including design, build, and stakeholder communication
Maintain and configure routers, switches, and related network equipment
Deliver and support customer connections, including server sockets, VLANs, and similar services
Assist with configuration of internal and external switches
Provide technical support for service-network cabling, including planning and deploying cabinet cabling
Support firmware and software updates for routers and switches
Assist with EOL management and ensure timely planning and budgeting for replacements
Support telephony systems, including ISDN and SIP services
Assist in maintaining backups, redundancies, and disaster recovery processes for all network services
Support network security through monitoring, audits, baselining, and working with internal and external assessors
Support security and monitoring systems such as Systems Observer and FireEye
Support assigned projects, including procurement meetings, budgeting, and security assessments
Produce basic network designs
Work across project and design activities as well as BAU support

LAN, We are a global organisation based in London, offering a Senior Network Engineer role with a salary of around £75,000 plus bonus, benefits, and on-call arrangements. The role is focused on supporting internal networks across UK and European sites, with a mix of project/design work and BAU support, and we are particularly interested in experience with Juniper Networks and firewalls.

Requirements

Degree (or equivalent) in a computer-related subject
Strong experience with Juniper Networks and firewalls, or the ability to transfer from Cisco to Juniper
Knowledge of Windows 2003 and above, Exchange Server, LANs, WANs, virtualisation, TCP/IP, routing, SANs, network design, firewalls, Active Directory, encryption technologies, and system monitoring and management
Proven and demonstrable experience supporting IT infrastructure, including networks and security hardware
Deep experience with one major network equipment provider
Evidence of implementing IT security tools and techniques
Practical experience managing change
Good working knowledge of Information Governance and its application within IT
Commitment to customer-facing service
Significant experience managing, motivating, and developing staff
Understanding of core Internet protocols such as TCP/IP, UDP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP, and BGP
