Job description
- Support development teams with production application support across communication, investigation, and issue resolution
- Troubleshoot application failures and implement fixes such as code changes or SQL scripting
- Check Windows Servers, databases, and other relevant application environments when issues occur
- Liaise with technical support, network, infrastructure, DBA, and other support teams to resolve application issues
- Communicate with primary support helpdesk teams to provide advice and suggestions
- Work with team members and the wider development team to establish best practices for application support
- Analyse and help define application configurations that meet business requirements
- Contribute to technical and design workshops to suggest ideas for stable application operations
- Help define application support standards for safe production operation
- Plan and estimate work volumes for application support activities
- Support the rollout of applications into production to minimise failures after release
- Consider performance, scalability, and security during design and implementation phases
- Follow incident and problem management processes, ensuring accurate ticket updates and clear stakeholder communication
- Participate in defining and configuring application environments in disaster recovery sites
- Support continuous improvement of application support methodology across the team and wider support departments

- ASP.NET, We are offering a 6-month contract for an Application Support Specialist role on a hybrid basis, with 3 days per week in our Canary Wharf office. The rate is £416 per day, and there is very likely potential for extension. Our tech stack includes T/SQL, C# .NET, and Oracle. This role sits within our production support team, supporting applications across London and New York, with out-of-office-hours support required as part of the role.
Requirements
- Experience in application support for development teams in production environments
- Strong troubleshooting skills, including analysing failures and finding root causes
- Experience with C# .NET and T/SQL
- Experience working with SQL Server or Oracle databases and Windows Server environments
- Ability to liaise with development teams and internal/external support teams
- Experience communicating with business clients and support stakeholders
- Experience with incident and problem management processes
- Ability to contribute to technical and design workshops and support standards
- Awareness of performance, scalability, and security considerations
- Willingness to provide out-of-office-hours production support
- Experience supporting application releases in production and disaster recovery environments
