Job description

  • Operate in a 24x7x365 Network Operations Center; this includes shift work, 2nd and 3rd shift hours, and weekends
  • This environment requires adaptability, continuous learning, and the ability to remain organized and responsive while managing multiple active network events and priorities.
  • Constant monitoring of Network Management systems for alarms on the METRONET Network.
  • Report, document, and track all alarm events while maintaining a high level of accuracy and urgency.
  • Create trouble tickets and assign to the correct internal workgroups for all customer and network troubles.
  • Update assigned tickets and escalate to various carriers and personnel as required until resolution.
  • Communicate Network Event alerts and updates to internal Metronet teams and executives.
  • Communicate daily with departments across Metronet, external telecommunications providers, and vendors to discuss and coordinate all network troubles/outages and projects. This may involve exchanging information on the installation, testing and turn-up of circuits/facilities and network elements (fiber transport, switching networks, etc).
  • Perform contact center duties in a high-volume environment.
  • Perform other duties assigned by NOC Management team

Requirements

Do you have experience in Computer skills?, This role is best suited for individuals who already have foundational networking knowledge and are comfortable operating in a fast-paced, real-time support environment. Successful candidates can assess network events with urgency, prioritize multiple issues simultaneously, communicate effectively across teams, and determine when escalation is necessary within a 24/7 operational environment., * Education: 2- or 4-year technical degree and/or equivalent training

  • Experience: Experience supporting ISP, telecommunications, network operations, or technical support environments preferred. *

  • Candidates should be comfortable making informed decisions around troubleshooting, prioritization, and escalation while following established operational procedures.
  • Key Competencies: Good computer and written/verbal communications skills, solve problems effectively, possess the ability to take on new, demanding challenges, demonstrate the ability to assume new levels of responsibility and deal effectively with other people.
