Application Development AS400 Developer

Maintain, modify, and optimize custom legacy application code written in RPG, RPGLE, and Control Language (CL). Troubleshoot batch runtime anomalies, resolve operational defects, and update system logic to meet regulatory mandates. Manage and tune DB2 for i relational databases, optimizing complex SQL queries and underlying database indexes. Administer application-level security, configure user profiles, and inspect system audit journals to maintain platform integrity. Supervise active job queues, operational subsystems, and automated application schedulers to ensure reliable processing. Support secure, automated data exchanges and interface pipelines linking the hosted partition to external downstream systems. Document legacy system flows, schemas, and dependencies to facilitate seamless data extraction and cloud migration initiatives. 5 or more years of experience in enterprise application development and technical administration on IBM AS/400 (IBM iSeries) platforms. Proficiency in programming with RPG IV (ILE RPG), RPGLE, Control Language (CL), and SQL on DB2 for i. Experience with managing IBM i subsystems, job queues, user profile authorities, and system audit journals (QAUDJRN). Experience in querying, managing, and tuning DB2 for i relational databases to ensure high system responsiveness. Experience with automating secure file transfers and external system interfaces utilizing SFTP and FTP protocols. Experience in collaborating with third-party hosting providers and cloud architects on database extraction and modernization efforts.
