Innovative Professional Solutions, Inc. (IPS) -a successful defense contractor located in Panama City Beach, Florida-has provided exceptional support to our Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City Division (NSWC PCD) customers for 25 years. We are looking for an energetic, proactive, Software Developers -to support sophisticated United States naval software systems. The ideal candidate is technically savvy, quality focused, and committed to become expertly familiar with the complexities of U.S. naval software and associated systems. The range of responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: software development, testing, integration, maintenance, configuration management, and formulation of software revision updates and sustainment. Developed product must be in accordance with standard United States Navy and Government instructions, policies, procedures, and standards. This project is exciting, challenging, and interesting and requires the ability to easily adapt to change.

Highlights of Responsibilities:

  • Participate in Scrum events led by the government customer.
  • Participate in sprint retrospectives and planning sessions.
  • Perform software development on the government’s software products in accordance with the guidance in the Software Development Plan and per the direction of the Scrum Master.
  • Develop software user stories and participate in grooming sessions for those stories.
  • Employ the Atlassian toolset for participation in development cycles and coordination with other software development team members.
  • Conduct peer code reviews.
  • Write and submit trouble tickets.
  • Develop software user stories and participate in grooming sessions for those stories.
  • Develop and implement algorithms for tactical concepts within government software.
  • Contribute to weekly and monthly status reports.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Windows?, Do you have a Bachelor’s degree?, * Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems or related field.

  • Experience with popular programming languages such as: TypeScript/JavaScript and Java.
  • Experience with front-end web development using React.
  • Experience or the ability of building reusable, maintainable UI (User Interface) elements.
  • Experience interfacing with back-end services using REST and/or GraphQL.
  • Experience with version control and usage of Git.
  • Experience with developer toolsets such as: Maven, Git, Jira, Bitbucket and Confluence.
  • Experience with Java in Windows environment (socket operations, Java Swing, mapping software).
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain a Security clearance., * Current CompTIA or Microsoft security certificate or able to complete certification if required.
  • Three or more years of recent and relevant experience.
  • Confident using MS Office, Database Management tools, and Adobe applications.
  • Experience with:
  • MS Windows 10 and 11
  • Troubleshooting, maintaining, and documenting software issues
  • Troubleshooting software issues and employing a ticketing system to track task completion
  • Closed networked systems
  • Red Hat Linux
  • U.S. Navy and government computer-based systems
  • Capable of writing and executing procedures.
  • Hands-on experience in a software lab environment.
  • Experience using database tools and frameworks such as PostgreSQL and Hibernate.
  • Able to assess and solve problems independently and as part of a team.
  • Possesses strong listening and communication skills to interface with end users.
  • Adapts easily to change and possess great interpersonal skills.

Travel:

  • No travel anticipated at this time.

Tools and Technology:

  • Active directory service interfaces (ADSI), virtual machines, and command prompt/power shell.
  • Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Various programming languages and back-end technologies.
  • Various web-based tools will be used.
