Data Engineering / Full Stack Python Developer

This Specialty Software Engineer 4 role supports the Capital Markets Investment Banking Technology organization as part of a broader Data Modernization Strategy initiative. The engineer will help design and implement best-in-class data solutions that support risk, capital, and investment banking applications while expanding the capabilities of the front-office technology platform. The role requires strong Python engineering expertise, deep SQL Server knowledge, and experience building scalable distributed applications and APIs. The engineer will work closely with business and technology stakeholders to translate requirements into modern data solutions, increase Agile delivery capacity, and contribute to strategic modernization efforts across the Capital Markets technology stack. Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

• Analyze and implement components of the enterprise Data Modernization Strategy.
• Design, develop, and support scalable solutions using Python, SQL Server, and microservices architectures.
• Build and maintain distributed applications that support capital markets and risk management use cases.
• Translate business requirements into detailed technical solutions and implementation plans.
• Design and develop RESTful APIs and data services.
• Partner with Agile teams to deliver capabilities through Jira-managed workstreams.
• Utilize DevOps tools such as Git, Jenkins, and deployment automation platforms to support software delivery.
• Participate in architecture discussions and contribute to best practices for application and data engineering.
• Support strategic initiatives focused on risk, capital, and front-office technology platforms.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, architects, and engineering teams to ensure delivery of high-quality solutions.
• Help create additional Agile delivery capacity through engineering efficiencies and automation.

• 5+ years of Specialty Software Engineering experience with strong Python development skills.
• Advanced experience with SQL Server (primary requirement) and other relational databases.
• Experience with data engineering, distributed applications, and modern data platforms.
• Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and microservices architectures.
• Experience working in Agile environments using Jira and DevOps tooling.Plusses:
• Capital Markets experience, particularly in Market Risk or Counterparty Credit Risk domains.
• Knowledge of derivatives, financial products, and risk data modeling.
• Experience with GenAI, Agentic AI, or AI-driven development initiatives.
