Technical Specialist III-IV

The National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO) seeks a Technical Specialist III-IV to support advanced telecommunications and RF systems that power world-class radio telescopes. In this role, you will install, integrate, test, and maintain complex signal paths, networking, and control systems that enable cutting-edge astronomy and astrophysics research. Working in a collaborative, research-focused environment, you will partner with scientists and engineers to troubleshoot performance issues, implement system upgrades, and ensure high reliability for mission-critical observing operations. • Conduct testing, calibration, and troubleshooting of signal paths and related electronics.
• Collaborate with scientists and engineers to implement and optimize observational systems.
• Monitor system performance, diagnose issues, and implement corrective actions.
• Document technical configurations, procedures, and maintenance activities.
• Support upgrades, integration projects, and commissioning of new hardware and software.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and operational standards in lab and field environments.
• Provide on-call or scheduled support for mission-critical observing operations.
