Job description

Your new company

A successful and ambitious Northern Ireland-based technology business is seeking an experienced Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join its established Technical IT team. Based in Belfast, the organisation delivers technology solutions for complex case management and bespoke government and private-sector requirements.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic, client-focused company that is continuing to invest in its infrastructure, cloud capability and technical services.

Your Role

As Senior Infrastructure Engineer, you will take responsibility for the end-to-end delivery, performance and continuous improvement of the organisation’s infrastructure.

You will provide technical leadership and best-practice guidance, while working closely with sales, professional services, development and application support teams. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing Azure, virtualised and on-premises environments
  • Provisioning infrastructure to support internal users and customers
  • Delivering Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, Bicep or ARM templates
  • Implementing automation through scripting and orchestration tools
  • Managing Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS and DHCP
  • Supporting Azure migrations, including lift-and-shift and re-platforming projects
  • Configuring and managing firewalls, VPNs, routing and switching
  • Supporting F5 BIG-IP, Azure Application Gateway and load-balancing technologies

What You Need to Succeed

You will have at least two to three years’ relevant hands-on experience, supported by strong technical knowledge across:

  • Microsoft Azure infrastructure, networking, security and monitoring
  • Azure Landing Zones, RBAC, policies and governance
  • Terraform, Bicep or ARM templates
  • Windows Server 2016, 2019, 2022 or 2025
  • Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP and certificate services
  • Hyper-V or VMware
  • Firewall technologies such as Fortinet, Palo Alto or Cisco ASA
  • Site-to-site and remote-access VPN configuration
  • Cisco routing and switching, including OSPF, BGP and VLANs
  • Azure ExpressRoute and VPN Gateway
  • F5 BIG-IP LTM, including virtual servers, pools, health monitors and iRules
  • Azure Application Gateway, WAF policies, SSL termination and URL-based routing
  • Azure Migrate, Azure Site Recovery and cloud migration planning

Microsoft or Cisco certifications would be advantageous, as would experience of scripting, automation and working directly with customers.

You will be a confident problem-solver with a positive, delivery-focused approach and the ability to communicate professionally with clients and internal teams. You must also be eligible for Security Clearance, including having been a UK resident for at least five years with no more than 30 days spent outside the UK during that period.

What You Will Get in Return

You will join an ambitious technology business offering hybrid working from its Belfast office, with occasional travel to customer sites.

The benefits package includes:

  • 26 days’ annual leave, increasing to 29 days with service
  • Seven bank holidays
  • Optional private healthcare, dental insurance and critical illness cover
  • Life assurance at four times your annual salary
  • Employer pension contributions of up to 10% matching
  • Opportunities to work across cloud, infrastructure, automation, networking and cybersecurity projects
