This is a great fit for a seasoned MSP or systems administrator - such as someone semi-retired, running their own consultancy, or looking for flexible supplemental work - who wants steady but limited hours (10-20/week) without a full-time commitment. Must be local to the Buffalo, NY area and available to go on-site to client locations when needed., * Administer Microsoft 365 and Azure/Entra ID tenants across multiple client environments, including user provisioning, licensing, and security configuration

- Administer Intune/endpoint management, conditional access, and MDM policies across client tenants
- Monitor and respond to alerts from RMM tooling, EDR/endpoint security, and backup platforms; resolve incidents and escalate as needed
- Work tickets through our PSA/ticketing system, meeting client SLAs and documenting resolutions
- Perform on-site troubleshooting, hardware support, and network work at client locations as needed
- Support client onboarding, offboarding, and new-employee IT setup
- Contribute to client documentation (network diagrams, credentials, configurations) in our documentation platform
- Recommend and help implement security and infrastructure improvements across the client base
- Be available on an as-needed basis for urgent client issues outside standard hours
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in IT administration or systems administration; prior MSP experience strongly preferred
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365, Azure/Entra ID, Windows Server, and Active Directory
- Experience with Intune or similar endpoint/MDM management
- Comfortable managing multiple client environments/tenants simultaneously and switching context between them
- Familiarity with common MSP tooling: RMM platforms (e.g., NinjaOne, Datto RMM, ConnectWise Automate), PSA/ticketing systems (e.g., ConnectWise, Autotask, HaloPSA), and documentation tools (e.g., IT Glue)
- Solid understanding of cybersecurity fundamentals: firewalls, endpoint protection/EDR, backup and disaster recovery
- Networking fundamentals (switches, routers, firewalls, VPN, Wi-Fi)
- Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision and communicating directly with client contacts
- Must live at or near Buffalo, NY and be available for on-site client visits as needed
- Strong client-facing communication skills; ability to explain technical issues to non-technical end users
- Relevant certifications a plus: Microsoft Certified (MS-102 Endpoint Administrator, AZ-104 Azure Administrator, MS-900/AZ-900), CompTIA Security+, or similar
Schedule & Location
This is a flexible, as-needed role - expect roughly 10 to 20 hours per week, with hours that may fluctuate based on client demand. Most work can be scheduled in advance, with occasional on-call availability for urgent client issues. Must be based in or near Buffalo, NY and willing to travel to client sites in the area.
Benefits & conditions
$45-$60 per hour, based on experience.
