Job description
Our client is seeking a hands-on Senior Cybersecurity Engineer to help strengthen and scale cybersecurity practices across a growing software organization supporting mission-critical environments. This individual will serve as a key technical contributor responsible for vulnerability management, compliance initiatives, secure software development practices, and overall cybersecurity operations. The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys solving complex problems, partnering with engineering teams, and taking ownership of security challenges from identification through resolution. - Identify, analyze, and remediate application and infrastructure vulnerabilities.
- Partner with software engineers to integrate security throughout the development lifecycle.
- Support compliance efforts related to federal security standards and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in security assessments, audits, and risk management activities.
- Help improve security processes, release management controls, and operational procedures.
- Conduct root-cause analysis and recommend preventative measures.
- Serve as a technical resource during customer discussions and security reviews.
- Contribute to incident response, vulnerability management, and security monitoring activities.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, product, and leadership teams.
Requirements
- 8-12+ years of overall software engineering, infrastructure, or technology experience
- Hands-on technical background with experience investigating vulnerabilities and implementing solutions
- Strong understanding of federal cybersecurity frameworks and compliance requirements
- Experience supporting environments governed by FedRAMP, NIST, FISMA, STIGs, RMF, ATOs, or related standards
- Experience working directly with development teams to improve security posture
- Ability to communicate effectively with engineers, executives, and government customers
- Proven track record of taking ownership and driving issues through resolution
- Experience supporting cloud-hosted applications and enterprise software platforms
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting DoD, Navy, Army, Air Force, or other federal government programs
- Familiarity with AWS and/or AWS GovCloud environments
- Experience within regulated software environments
- Exposure to healthcare technology, EHR systems, or mission-critical applications
- Software development experience in Java, React, or similar technologies
- Ability to review code and identify security concerns, even if not serving as a full-time developer
- Prior experience working in a small-to-mid-sized high-growth technology company
Benefits & conditions
Due to federal security clearance requirements, applicant must be a United States Citizen with an active Secret clearance. This is a contract to hire opportunity. Applicants must be willing and able to work on a w2 basis and convert to FTE following contract duration. For our w2 consultants, we offer a great benefits package that includes Medical, Dental, and Vision benefits, 401k with company matching, and life insurance.
Rate: $85.00 to $95.00/hr. w2, Skills, experience, and other compensable factors will be considered when determining pay rate. The pay range provided in this posting reflects a W2 hourly rate; other employment options may be available that may result in pay outside of the provided range.
