Senior Design Engineer - High Performance Motorsport

An exciting opportunity has arisen to become a key member of the founding engineering team of a new specialist business serving the high-performance motorsport and advanced engineering sectors.

Backed by an established UK precision engineering group, the business is being created with the ambition of becoming a highly responsive, technically capable supplier for demanding applications.

Initially, you will be a hands-on senior engineer responsible for designing and developing products from concept through to production.

As the business develops, you will help establish:

• The engineering design function.
• CAD and engineering systems.
• Design standards and processes.
• Drawing and GD&T standards.
• Product development processes.
• Design-for-manufacture principles.
• Engineering documentation and configuration control.
• Prototype and validation processes.
• Technical relationships with customers and suppliers.
• Future engineering capability and recruitment

We are looking for an experienced mechanical Design Engineer who combines excellent technical ability with a practical understanding of manufacturing.

You may currently be working in:

• Formula 1 / motorsport
• High-performance automotive
• Aerospace
• Defence
• Precision engineering
• Automotive
• Hydraulic / pneumatic/ Fluid systems
• Specialist mechanical engineering

You don’t necessarily need direct motorsport experience.

What matters is that you understand high-quality mechanical engineering and precision manufacturing, and that you want to apply that experience in a technically demanding environment.

• Strong mechanical engineering background.
• Significant professional design engineering experience.
• Excellent 3D CAD capability.
• Experience producing detailed manufacturing drawings.
• Strong understanding of GD&T and engineering tolerances.
• Experience with Design for Manufacture and Assembly.
• Experience taking products from concept through to manufacture.
• Good understanding of machining and precision manufacturing.
• Ability to work directly with manufacturing teams.
• Strong problem-solving capability.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to take ownership of projects and make engineering decisions.
