Power BI Developer

• Requirements Gathering & Analysis: Collaborate directly with business stakeholders and data analysts to define report requirements, KPI definitions, and underlying data structures. Deconstruct and reverse-engineer existing business processes, complex Excel formulas, and pivot tables to translate legacy reporting into optimized semantic models.
• Data Modeling & Architecture: Architect, build, and document robust conceptual, logical, and physical data models. Implement row-level security (RLS) and column-level security (CLS) within reusable semantic models. Leverage Tabular Editor Best Practice Analyzer to enforce DAX and modeling standards.
• Data Source Connectivity & Integration: Establish connections across disparate data platforms, including SQL databases, REST APIs, Google BigQuery, ArcGIS feature layers, streaming datasets, and flat files. Collaborate with integration engineers to build scalable data extraction and transformation routines.
• DAX & Calculations: Develop complex DAX measures, calculated tables/columns, and custom business logic optimized for high throughput.
• Report & Dashboard Design: Build intuitive, visually engaging, and responsive reports incorporating drill-throughs, custom slicers, streaming visuals, and ArcGIS mapping. Tune dashboard performance using DAX Studio and native Power BI Performance Analyzer tools.
• Power BI Service Management: Publish and maintain enterprise workspaces, manage access permissions, configure gateway connections, schedule automated data refreshes, and optimize large dataset storage models.
• DevOps & Emerging Tech: Utilize Azure DevOps and Git workflows for Power BI source control, versioning, and deployment pipelines. Leverage AI tools to streamline data analysis, query design, and workflow efficiency.
• Stakeholder Communication: Lead interactive requirement-gathering sessions, backlog reviews, and sprint demonstrations, translating technical analytics into clear, actionable business insights.

We are seeking an experienced Power BI Developer to support enterprise Business Intelligence initiatives. This role is responsible for end-to-end Power BI solutions, ranging from business requirements gathering and reverse-engineering complex spreadsheet models to advanced data modeling, DAX development, report creation, and Power BI Service administration. The ideal candidate possesses deep technical acumen in performance tuning, integration across diverse data sources, and version control workflows., * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or equivalent professional experience.

• Proven track record delivering enterprise-grade Power BI dashboards and semantic data models.
• Advanced knowledge of DAX, Tabular Editor, and DAX Studio.
• Experience connecting Power BI to varied data endpoints, particularly BigQuery, relational SQL engines, REST APIs, and geospatial layers (ArcGIS).
• Strong background in spreadsheet deconstruction (advanced Excel, nested logic, pivot models).
• Hands-on familiarity with Azure DevOps version control patterns for BI assets.
