Senior SQL Database Administrator / SQL SME (Remote)

We are seeking a Senior SQL Database Administrator / SQL SME to provide database administration, development, maintenance, monitoring, and production support across on-premises and cloud environments. The SQL SME will support standalone and clustered SQL Server environments, troubleshoot production issues, optimize database performance, implement HA/DR solutions, and coordinate database-related incidents, service requests, and changes., * Administer, configure, maintain, and support Microsoft SQL Server databases.

• Support standalone SQL Server and SQL Cluster environments.
• Install, configure, upgrade, patch, and maintain SQL Server components.
• Build and configure databases based on application and business requirements.
• Perform daily troubleshooting, error triage, system setup, and configuration.
• Monitor database availability, capacity, storage, performance, and system health.
• Perform SQL query optimization, indexing, execution-plan analysis, and performance tuning.
• Develop and maintain SQL scripts, stored procedures, database objects, and automation.
• Design, implement, and test database backup and restoration procedures.
• Implement and support High Availability and Disaster Recovery solutions.
• Support scheduled failovers, recovery exercises, patching, and server reboots.
• Troubleshoot database, server, cluster, connectivity, and application-integration issues.
• Manage incidents, service requests, and change requests using ServiceNow.
• Execute Requests for Change related to ongoing database maintenance.
• Perform proactive monitoring and capacity planning using Idera and SolarWinds.
• Lead production-incident troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.
• Maintain technical documentation, operating procedures, standards, and runbooks.
• Collaborate with application, infrastructure, security, cloud, and business teams.
• Provide technical guidance to other database administrators.
• Prepare weekly reports covering support activities and accomplishments.
• Participate in periodically scheduled after-hours maintenance and production support.

• Minimum 8 years of Microsoft SQL Server database-administration experience.
• Advanced experience administering SQL Server in production environments.
• Strong experience with SQL Server Clustering.
• Strong SQL scripting and database-automation skills.
• Experience with database installation, configuration, upgrades, and patching.
• Experience with backup, restoration, recovery, and database maintenance.
• Experience implementing and supporting HA/DR environments.
• Strong database-performance analysis and tuning experience.
• Experience with database-health monitoring and capacity planning.
• Experience supporting on-premises and cloud database environments.
• Experience troubleshooting server, database, connectivity, and application issues.
• Experience with ServiceNow or a comparable IT service-management platform.
• Experience with Idera, SolarWinds, or comparable monitoring tools.
• Working knowledge of PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, Oracle Database, or MS Access.
• Strong problem-solving, documentation, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently and provide technical leadership.
• Ability to work remotely and remain available through Microsoft Teams during assigned working hours.
