Senior Design Engineer

Job DescriptionWe are currently looking for a Senior Design Engineer for a leading biotechnology company in Nottinghamshire. This position is a full-time, permanent position, and the successful candidate will be reporting to the Director of Design Engineering based in the US. Key Responsibilities Translate customer requirements into clear, accurate, and manufacturable engineering drawings and technical documentation. Create and maintain 2D/3D CAD models and assemblies using SolidWorks. Act as a key interface between customers, sales, and manufacturing teams to ensure design requirements are understood and executed. Support Design for Manufacturing (DFM) activities and drive improvements in drawing quality, standardisation, and engineering processes. Manage Bills of Materials (BOMs), engineering change requests, and documentation within PLM/ERP systems. Participate in design reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across engineering and manufacturing. Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Bioengineering, or a related discipline. 10+ years’ experience in design engineering or drafting within a regulated manufacturing environment. Advanced SolidWorks experience, including part modelling, assemblies, and technical drawing creation. Strong knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, and engineering drawing standards (ASME/ISO). Experience working with BOMs, engineering change processes, and PLM/ERP systems. Background in medical devices, bioprocessing, or other highly regulated industries preferred. Strong communication skills with experience collaborating across customer-facing and cross-functional teams. Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
