Job description
The CAD Designer is responsible for creating, developing, and reviewing design solutions to meet customer requirements and support project delivery from concept through to manufacture within the bespoke metalwork and fabrication sector. Working closely with Estimation, Production, Procurement, and Project Teams, the role requires strong technical, organisational, and customer-facing skills.
The successful candidate will review designs, suggest improvements, maintain accurate documentation and revision control, and liaise with clients, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure successful project outcomes.
Occasional site visits and travel to Cox London facilities may be required., * Create detailed 2D and 3D CAD drawings and models.
- Develop designs in line with customer requirements and manufacturing processes.
- Attend project development meetings and support project planning.
- Review, amend, and update drawings and models as projects evolve.
- Produce fabrication drawings, layouts, and technical documentation.
- Conduct design analysis and simulations where required.
- Read and interpret architectural drawings and specifications.
- Collaborate with teams across Guild Bespoke and Cox London.
- Provide technical input to costing, procurement, and production activities.
- Maintain accurate drawing registers, documentation, and revision control.
- Attend client, supplier, and site meetings as required.
- Keep up to date with CAD software, manufacturing methods, and industry developments.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a CAD Design or similar technical design role within manufacturing.
- Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar CAD software.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing and technical drawing standards.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings.
- Excellent organisational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and within cross-functional teams.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Customer-focused with confidence in client-facing situations.
- Willingness to travel to sites and Cox London facilities when required., * Degree, HND, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or a related field.
- Experience within bespoke manufacturing, metalwork, furniture, lighting, or similar industries.
- Knowledge of stress analysis, simulation, costing, and procurement processes.
