Software Engineer

Mid-Continent Instruments and Avionics seeks a Software Engineer to build high reliability software for aircraft instruments, avionics, and power solutions. You will design, implement, and test embedded and application-level software that enhances flight safety and system reliability in a regulated aviation environment. Partnering closely with hardware, systems, and test engineers, you’ll translate requirements into certifiable solutions, perform rigorous verification, and support continuous improvement of tools and processes. This role offers the opportunity to work on innovative avionics products, learn from experienced aerospace professionals, and contribute directly to pilots’ confidence in the cockpit., * Design, develop, and maintain software for avionics and aircraft instrumentation products

• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and QA teams to deliver reliable, certifiable software solutions
• Implement and test embedded and application-level code following aviation and safety standards
• Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize existing systems to improve performance and reliability
• Document designs, code, and test procedures in accordance with regulated aerospace processes
• Participate in code reviews and continuous improvement of development tools and workflows

• Embedded C/C++ programming
• Real-time systems/RTOSSoftware testing and debugging
• Version control (e.g., Git)
• Requirements analysis and traceability
• Unit and integration testing
• Reading electrical/technical schematics
• Python or scripting for test automation
• Issue tracking and documentation tools
• Familiarity with DO-178
• C or safety-critical standards
