Job description
We are looking for enthusiastic individuals to work as a newly appointed Clinical Support Officer, primarily looking after Consultants, whilst working closely with management, doctors, and PSH teams., Clinical Support Officers play a pivotal role to ensure an accurate and comprehensive service by maintaining their Consultant’s diary, clinic typing, managing patients through their clinical pathways, updating the Patient Administration System (PAS)/Medway system for which you would receive training. You will be willing to support other specialties within the Business Units when shortfalls in capacity arise and depending on the Business Unit priorities.
We are looking for candidates who flourish in an office environment and thrive from problem solving and supporting the Clinicians. A genuine interest in providing excellent patient care is a must. Experience of working in an office environment would be advantageous and we would welcome any candidates who are looking to get their start within the NHS.
Patient administration underpins the patient journey, supports clinical teams in delivering high quality patient care and can make a real difference to the patient experience. Effective and efficient patient administration supports management through ensuring a high standard of data quality and by making the best use of capacity and resources. The Clinical Support Officer role is a vital part of effective patient administration.
Requirements
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Knowledge of PAS/CareFlow, * GCSE Grade C or above in English and Maths or equivalent qualification/ experience
- NVQ Level 3 in relative subject, i.e. Customer Care skills or Administration (or equivalent qualification or experience) .
- IT proficiency evidenced by a qualification or knowledge in Microsoft packages, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel., * 4 GCSE Grade C or equivalent.
- AMSPAR - Medical Terminology Certificate., * Ability to complete tasks accurately and efficiently.
- Ability to work on own initiative and prioritise workload to achieve deadlines.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to communicate and work in a team.
- Competent Microsoft Word User.
- Awareness and Knowledge of the dignity in care agenda.
- Ability to evidence/demonstrate key values and behaviours in line with the Trust framework, * Conscientious in standard of work produced.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Clear understanding of the importance of confidentiality., * Adaptable to change.
- Readiness to try new things
Disclosure and Barring Service Check
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
Benefits & conditions
Both full time and part time hours will be considered. To be worked over Monday to Friday with hours ranging from 8am-5pm to be considered. Full and part time positions available at Lincoln County Hospital.

Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust (LCHS) and United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust (ULHT) have come together in a Group arrangement, with the goal of improving the care provided to patients across the county.
This will not constitute a formal merger of the two organisations, but will bring the Trusts together under a single Board and Executive Leadership Team, with the goal of improving the care that is provided to patients both in the community and in hospitals across Lincolnshire. Both Trusts will retain their separate statutory names and legal obligations.
The Group will be known as Lincolnshire Community and Hospitals NHS Group (LCHG).
