Systems Specialist, FinOps Engineer

We are seeking a highly analytical and motivated Systems Specialist FinOps Engineer to help establish and drive our new FinOps practice. Initially focused on data analytics, this role will be responsible for creating comprehensive dashboards, analyzing our current IT and cloud infrastructure spending, and identifying actionable cost-saving opportunities. The ideal candidate will evaluate system configurations and contract constraints to optimize expenditures while maintaining operational performance., Core Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain financial and operational dashboards to provide transparency into IT and cloud spending.
• Analyze complex datasets to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for cost optimization.
• Evaluate current infrastructure configurations and vendor contract constraints, recommending changes to achieve significant cost savings.
• Collaborate with engineering, operations, and finance teams to establish foundational FinOps practices and promote a culture of cost-awareness.
• Track, report, and forecast expenditures, providing regular insights to leadership to inform budget decisions.
• Assist in defining and tracking KPIs related to infrastructure efficiency and cost management.
• Perform other related tasks and assignments as required.

• Bachelor’s Degree and three years of relevant experience required. or
• Associate’s Degree and five years of relevant experience required. or
• High School Diploma/GED and seven years of relevant experience required.

Preferred Education/Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Finance, Information Technology, Data Analytics, or a related discipline. and three years of relevant experience.

Relevant Work Experience

• Proven experience developing dashboards and utilizing data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau), required.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable business recommendations, required.
• Experience analyzing IT infrastructure, cloud consumption, and/or software licensing costs, required.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment, required.
• Understanding of cloud architecture (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and related pricing models, preferred
• Familiarity with vendor contract structures and IT asset management, preferred.
• Familiarity with on-premises infrastructure environments (such as virtual machines or hyperconverged infrastructure), preferred.

Additional Physical Demands

• The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Must be able and willing to travel within Company service territory, as needed.
• Must be able to participate in the Companys emergency management processes and storm plans as required.
