Systems Engineer III - New Glenn Customer Certification

This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.

This role directly supports our National Security Space Launch contracts as part of the Customer Certification team within Mission Management. The team is a mixture of Program Managers and Systems Engineers tasked with obtaining and maintaining vehicle certification for both NSSL and NASA customer missions. This critical role leads the systems engineering discipline for New Glenn ground systems and associated scope required for vehicle certification for the New Glenn launch vehicle in direct support of National Security Space Launch (NSSL) and NASA programs. This role requires reviewing and understanding customer requirements, coordinating and integrating with internal and external technical teams, interfacing with customer representatives, and developing tactical plans for executing and maintaining ground systems certification and verification scope associated with New Glenn vehicle processing, launch, and landing activities.

To be successful in this role, you will develop and maintain positive relationships across the New Glenn program and our US government partners at the US Space Force and NASA. You must be proactive in planning sophisticated products across many technical subject areas while also developing, delivering, and communicating results in support of government certification requests. You must have the resourcefulness and flexibility to perform at a high level in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and be an incredible team member.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Primary focal for New Glenn ground system certification activities, including understanding of the design, development, and verification of ground systems in support of New Glenn launch activities
• Manage USG program/project resources, schedules, and budgets (labor and non-labor) to achieve Blue Origin business goals while maintaining customer satisfaction.
• Lead customer facing meetings/reviews, including technical reviews and program planning meetings, to integrate USG into Blue Origin business rhythm.
• Work closely with technical engineering and launch operations teams and support organizations to ensure successful integration/execution of customer requirements and deliverables.
• Create and use standard formats for data aggregation and reporting to executive leadership on readiness, escalations, help needs, and wins, Applicants for employment at Blue Origin must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e. current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

• Required for Certain Job Profiles: Drivers who operate Commercial Motor Vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW), Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) or combination of power unit and trailer that meets or exceeds 10,001 lbs. and/or transports placardable amounts of hazardous materials by ground in any vehicle on a public road while in commerce, may be subject to additional Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations including: Driver Qualification Files, Medical Certification (obtained before onboarding), Road Test, Hours of Service, Drug and Alcohol Testing, vehicle inspection requirements, CDL requirements (if applicable) and hazardous materials transportation/shipping training.
• Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical

• B.S. degree in engineering or an equivalent technical field.
• 5+ years of proven experience with large-scale, development aerospace program.
• Understanding of the Systems Engineering V - including requirements development, verification plans, and V&V closure.
• Experience in managing complex, multi-disciplinary, fast-paced programs/projects.
• Expertise with collaboration tools such as Confluence and JIRA.
• Experience with systems engineering tools (e.g., DOORS), configuration management tools (e.g., Windchill), and secure data-sharing platforms.
• Ability to travel within U.S. and abroad., * Experience with customer certification or mission assurance practices
• Familiarity with system safety products, including fault trees, functional hazard assessments, hazard sheets, and/or other related systems safety tools
• Experience with launch system ground infrastructure and design, including but not limited to ground support equipment, commodity storage, handling operations, tooling, supporting infrastructure, and launch vehicle processing.
• Experience with launch vehicle development and certification.
• Experience working with government customers.
