Job description

Design, implement, and upgrade VMware vSphere/VCF environments (vCenter, ESXi, NSX-T, vSAN), including firmware and version upgrade planning.
Lead migration projects between platforms (VMware ? Nutanix ? Azure ? AWS), including large-scale VM and application moves.
Manage enterprise storage estates (NetApp, Dell EMC, IBM, Isilon or equivalent) - health checks, capacity planning, and platform refreshes.
Own disaster recovery design and testing across on-prem and cloud (Cloud Volumes ONTAP, Nutanix DR, or equivalent)
Administer backup platforms (Commvault, NetBackup, or equivalent) and resolve job/media issues.
Support hybrid identity and networking: Active Directory, DFS/DFS-R, DNS, VPNs, firewalls, load balancers.
Where applicable, lead Windows 11/end-user computing rollouts (Autopilot, Intune, MECM) and Citrix/AVD estate management
Produce design documentation, upgrade plans, and management reporting for stakeholders.
Provide 3rd/4th-line support and act as technical escalation point.

Requirements

10+ years in enterprise infrastructure engineering, ideally with SAN/storage and virtualisation depth.
Strong VMware expertise: vSphere, vSAN, NSX-T, VCF upgrade/design experience.
Enterprise storage platform experience (NetApp, Dell EMC, IBM, or similar).
Cloud platform experience (Azure and/or AWS) including migration and DR.
Scripting/automation (PowerShell, Ansible, or equivalent).
Windows Server, Active Directory, DFS.
Backup and DR tooling experience.

Desirable Experience

Citrix/EUC and Windows 11 deployment experience (Autopilot, Intune, MECM).
Terraform, Bicep, or other IaC tooling.
Nutanix experience.
Relevant certifications: VMware VCP, AWS Solutions Architect, Microsoft Azure (AZ-800/900/140), Citrix CCA-V.
SC clearance or eligibility (useful for public sector/regulated clients).

I’m currently supporting a leading global financial services organization that is looking to hire an experienced Senior Infrastructure & Cloud Engineer to lead the design, migration, and support of enterprise virtualisation, storage, and cloud environments.

This is a hands-on role covering hybrid delivery across VMware/VCF estates, enterprise storage platforms, and hybrid cloud (Azure/AWS), with responsibility for planning and executing complex, business-critical migrations and upgrades with minimal disruption. You’ll act as a senior technical escalation point, leading design and delivery work while also providing 3rd/4th-line support across a large, business-critical infrastructure estate.
