Software Engineer III, Android XR Developer

As a software engineer, you will work on a specific project critical to Google’s needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as you and our fast-paced business grow and evolve. We need our engineers to be versatile, display leadership qualities and be enthusiastic to take on new problems across the full-stack as we continue to push technology forward., * Creation of vertical model context protocol (MCP) tools for agentic experiences that shine on XR devices.

• Improve and customize existing MCP integrations for XR device form factors and experiences.
• Create new frameworks to help XR developers navigate user journeys that bridge Gemini integrations with Android XR application experiences.
• Collaborate closely with the Gemini and Android teams to create new capabilities for Android XR developers.
• Collaborate closely with Android XR AI researchers to bring new AI capabilities to Android XR developers.

• 2 years of experience programming in Java, Kotlin or C++.
• 2 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.

• 5 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
• 3 years of experience with performance, large-scale systems data analysis, visualization tools, or debugging.
• 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role.
• Experience developing accessible technologies.

Specifically, the XR AI Developer Solutions team enables the Android XR developer ecosystem to build rich, spatially-aware, and Gemini-connected XR application experiences using technologies like MCP, A2UI, and Android AppFunctions.

US: $147000 - $210000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits
