Humanizing Technology Lecturer Pool

The Humanizing Technology Certificate Program in the Humanities Division at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) invites applications for an ongoing pool of lecturers who may be appointed to teach one or more courses for the divisionally sponsored certificate program.

Under the direction of the Associate Dean of Humanities, the selected candidates will be appointed to teach in one or more of the following areas: humans and machines, ethics and technology, language and technology, race and technology, technologies of representation, and artificial intelligence and human imagination.

Candidates should be willing to teach both large lecture courses and seminars, courses that include a large discussion component, and they must be able to deliver on-line instruction if the need arises.

Applicants with expertise in linguistics, philosophy, human computer interaction, engineering, computer science, AI, critical race and ethnic studies are strongly encouraged to apply.

The campus is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the inclusive excellence of the academic community through their teaching and other assigned duties.

Basic qualifications (required at the time the application is submitted) A Ph.D. (or equivalent foreign degree) in Philosophy, Engineering, Linguistics, Critical Race or Ethnic Studies, or a related field. A minimum of three years’ teaching experience at the college or university level.
