Computer Applications Specialist- (Full-Time), 12 months/yr.

JOB DESCRIPTION: Provide functional and end-user support for enterprise applications used by internal BOCES programs and services. Serve as a subject matter resource for assigned systems, including Frontline, SchoolTool, WinCap, and SharePoint, as well as other applications that may be designated. Coordinate application support, user training, issue resolution, documentation, and communication with software vendors and internal stakeholders., 1. Provides functional support for assigned administrative and operational computer applications, including but not limited to Frontline, WinCap, SchoolTool and Microsoft Applications (i.e., SharePoint).

1. Receives, documents, investigates, and resolves application-related inquiries, incidents, service requests, and user concerns; refers technical or vendor-level matters to appropriate personnel or external service providers as warranted.
2. Serves as liaison among application users, leadership, Technology Services personnel, and software vendors regarding support issues, system defects, upgrades, maintenance activities, licensing matters, product changes, and service-related concerns.
3. Plans, develops, schedules, and conducts individual and group training for new and existing application users; prepares, updates, and maintains related user guides, procedures, knowledge articles, and training materials.
4. Assists with application configuration, user access, role assignments, workflows, forms, reports, data validation, data imports and exports, and system-to-system file transfers within assigned areas of responsibility.
5. Tests application updates, patches, configuration changes, interfaces, workflows, and new functionality prior to or in conjunction with implementation.
6. Communicates planned system changes, outages, known issues, workarounds, and service updates to affected users, program staff, and other stakeholders.
7. Confers with program staff to identify operational requirements, assess application capabilities, recommend practicable improvements, and support enhancements to business processes.
8. Supports the maintenance of accurate records, appropriate system access, confidentiality, and secure handling of information in accordance with applicable organizational requirements, policies, and procedures.
9. Reviews recurring application issues and service trends to identify opportunities for additional training, improved documentation, configuration modifications, vendor follow-up, or service improvement.
10. Participates in implementation, upgrade, migration, testing, and continuous improvement activities related to assigned applications.
11. Performs related duties as required and provides support for additional applications as assigned.

Must possess or meet requirements for Civil Service title Computer Applications Specialist.

Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma, plus EITHER:

(A) Graduation with an associate’s degree in computer science or an Information Technology related field; OR,

(B) Two (2) years paid full-time or part-time equivalent experience in developing or maintaining database applications on micro-computers; OR
