Database Solutions Engineer

Data is only useful when it is t rus ted, accessible, and ready to support the mission. As a Database Developer, you’ll help design and deliver secure, high-performing Oracle Database solutions that support applications, analytics, APIs, and AI-enabled workflows.

In this role, you’ll work across logical and physical data design, geospatial intelligence, multimodal data, and emerging AI capabilities. You’ll help integrate relational, spatial, JSON, and graph data while ensuring solutions remain reliable, maintainable, secure, and ready to support operational users.

You’ll collaborate with application developers, AI spe cia lists, data engineers, cloud architects, security professionals, and customer stakeholders to solve complex data challenges. What You’ll Work On:

• Architect, implement, and optimize Oracle Database solutions for complex enterprise and mission workloads.
• Design logical and physical data models, schemas, indexes, views, packages, and data access patterns that support performance, security, and maintainability.
• Design multi-model Oracle Database solutions integrating relational, spatial, JSON, and graph data types.
• Manage geospatial intelligence data, including raster and vector formats, and develop spatial schemas, indexes, queries, and services.
• Enable AI use cases in Oracle Database using vector data types, embeddings, RAG, and MCP integrations.
• Assess source systems, define migration and conversion strategies, and validate data quality, completeness, reconciliation, and performance.
• Support database operations, including performance tuning, monitoring, backup and recovery, security, troubleshooting, documentation, and operational runbooks.
• Collaborate with application, AI, data engineering, cloud, security, and customer teams to translate requirements into maintainable database designs.

• 8+ years of experience in database engineering, database development, or data architecture
• Experience architecting, implementing, and optimizing Oracle Database solutions, including logical and physical design, performance tuning, security, backup and recovery, and operational support
• Experience managing geospatial intelligence data, including raster and vector formats, and designing spatial schemas, indexes, queries, and services
• Experience designing multi-modal database solutions using relational, spatial, JSON, and graph data types
• Experience enabling AI use cases in Oracle Database using vector data types, embeddings, RAG, or MCP integrations
• Experience with SQL and PL / SQL, including schemas, packages, procedures, functions, views, and query optimization
• Experience assessing source systems, developing migration and conversion strategies, validating data quality, and collaborating across technical and mission teams
• Active TS/SCI clearance; willingness to take a polygraph exam
• Bachelor’s degree

Nice If You Have:

• Experience with Oracle AI Database 26ai, Oracle Exadata, or OCI Autonomous AI Database Service on Exadata
• Experience creating RESTful APIs and integrating with Oracle API Gateway or similar API management capabilities
• Experience migrating Oracle Databases into OCI using Zero Downtime Migration, Data Pump, Golde nGa te, or similar tools
• Experience migrating JSON data from MongoDB or similar document stores into Oracle Database
• Experience with Oracle Spatial and spatial analytics workflows
• Experience designing highly available, scalable, reliable, and observable database solutions in regulated or mission environments
• Knowledge of OCI, including database deployment, networking, identity, storage, monitoring, and security services

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $86,800.00 to $198,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
