Senior Database Administrator - NoSQL/MongoDB

This role is a senior-level Database Administrator (NoSQL/MongoDB) position embedded within Citi’s Cloud Technology Solutions (CTS) group, responsible for providing production database support to operations teams across a large-scale, global financial services enterprise. The position is fundamentally operations-focused and requires a candidate who is comfortable with and committed to a hands-on database administration function in a 24/7 production environment. The ideal candidate brings deep, MongoDB-specific expertise including replica sets, sharded architecture, and Ops Manager rather than generalist database experience. This is an opportunity for a seasoned DBA to serve as a subject matter expert, influence infrastructure strategy, and operate with a high degree of autonomy within one of Citi’s leading financial institutions., * Install, configure, and provide production support for MongoDB replica sets and sharded cluster architectures within Citi’s Cloud Technology Solutions (CTS) environment.

• Administer MongoDB Ops Manager, including backup and recovery operations using MongoDB Ops Manager Backup, MongoDump, MongoRestore, and Rubrik.
• Plan and execute cluster migrations with minimal disruption to production services.
• Maintain and support FIDs integration with CyberArk and HashiCorp Vault in alignment with Citi’s Global Security Standards.
• Create and manage complex project plans, perform impact analyses, and lead resolution efforts for high-impact production incidents.
• Provide Root Cause Analysis (RCA) documentation following service restoration events.
• Design testing approaches and complex operational processes; assist in the automation of repetitive database administration tasks.
• Review technical requirement documents, define hardware requirements, and update operational processes and procedures as necessary.
• Ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory requirements applicable to database infrastructure and operations.
• Provide technical and strategic direction to team members, acting as a subject matter expert (SME) for senior stakeholders.
• Operate with a high level of independence and sound judgment in a limited-supervision environment.

• 6+ years’ experience in infrastructure delivery roles, with a demonstrated track record of operational process improvement and change management.
• Hands-on MongoDB database administration experience is required. MongoDB-specific expertise is strongly preferred over generalist or alternative database platform experience.
• Proficiency in Linux operating system administration as it relates to database infrastructure support.
• Strong background in database performance tuning, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
• Experience with MongoDB backup and recovery tools, including MongoDB Ops Manager Backup, MongoDump, MongoRestore, and Rubrik.
• Familiarity with secrets management and identity integration tools, including CyberArk and HashiCorp Vault.
• Experience working in a Financial Services or similarly large, complex, and/or global enterprise environment is preferred.
• Ability to develop and utilize metrics frameworks, analytical tools, and benchmarking methodologies to support operational best practices.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and diagnostic skills with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced production support environment.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with virtual and in-person teams across geographically distributed environments.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent relevant experience.
• Master’s degree preferred.

$125,760.00 - $188,640.00
