As a Test Automation Expert, you will be pivotal in elevating our client’s software quality and reliability. Your expertise will directly influence the success of complex projects and agile teams, ensuring robust, risk-based testing across diverse application and integration landscapes. This role is essential to advancing a shift-left, quality-first culture, and empowering teams to deliver with confidence and speed. What You’ll Be Doing

• Coordinating and executing test activities across projects and agile development teams, ensuring seamless integration of testing into the software lifecycle.
• Championing test quality by establishing pragmatic, risk-based test approaches tailored to complex enterprise environments.
• Aligning test activities with business stakeholders, developers, and other key partners to maximize impact and clarity.
• Driving the adoption and implementation of programmable test automation frameworks (e.g., TypeScript, WebDriver.IO, Node.js, Cucumber).
• Promoting shift-left testing and embedding quality assurance at every stage of development.
• Coaching and mentoring fellow testers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
• Developing and refining test strategies, plans, and approaches for multifaceted application landscapes.
• Designing, maintaining, and optimizing test automation frameworks, ensuring CI/CD integration and scalability.
• Analyzing business requirements and translating them into actionable test scenarios and cases.
• Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to enhance test processes, governance, and automation best practices.
• Contributing to the professionalization of testing within the organization, sharing knowledge and driving innovation., * Freelance position: 12-month contract, based in Hasselt, Belgium

• Willingness to contribute to related team requests (Quality Manager, Senior Test Specialist & Functional Test Lead)

• Demonstrable experience as a tester in Agile/Scrum projects, with a proven track record in complex enterprise environments.
• Expertise as a Test Specialist, with hands-on experience in operational test coordination and automation.
• Strong background in formal test methods, techniques, and risk-based testing approaches.
• Proven ability to coach, mentor, and guide testers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance team environment.
• Experience in developing test strategies, plans, and approaches for large-scale, integrated systems.
• Advanced skills in integration, regression, and end-to-end testing.
• Deep knowledge of programmable test automation tools and frameworks (TypeScript, WebDriver.IO, Node.js, Cucumber, or similar).
• Demonstrated experience in stakeholder management, bridging business, development, and testing perspectives.
• Track record in designing, implementing, and maintaining test automation frameworks, including CI/CD integration.
• Exceptional communication skills and a hands-on, solution-oriented mentality.
• Experience in writing comprehensive test scenarios and translating business requirements into actionable test cases.
• Previous collaboration with proposed candidates in the team request is a plus.

Technical Skills & Tools

• Programmable test automation: TypeScript, WebDriver.IO, Node.js, Cucumber (or similar)
• Test management and automation tools: Tricentis Tosca (knowledge is a plus)
• CI/CD pipelines and integration
• Formal test methods and risk-based testing
• API testing, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing
• Agile/Scrum methodologies

Language Proficiency

• Dutch at European CEFR level C2 (required)
