Job description

Design, build, and maintain scalable backend systems using Ruby on Rails
Work on high-traffic, production-grade applications serving millions of users
Contribute to architectural decisions and scaling initiatives
Identify and solve complex performance and reliability challenges
Take ownership of features from conception through production
Collaborate closely with Product, Design, QA, AI, and DevOps teams
Work in a fast-paced environment where engineers have significant autonomy
Use modern AI-powered development tools as part of your engineering workflow

Requirements

5+ years of backend engineering experience
Strong professional experience with Ruby on Rails
Experience building and operating high-traffic, scalable production systems
Strong understanding of web fundamentals, backend architecture, and performance optimisation
Experience with monolithic architectures and/or scaling challenges
Proven ability to take ownership and make technical decisions independently
Experience working in a startup or scale-up environment is highly desirable
Comfortable collaborating within cross-functional engineering teams
Strong communication skills in English
Actively uses AI tools such as ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude, or similar in development
