Data Management Analyst - AI Governance

An opportunity for an experienced Data Analyst to support the development of robust data-management and responsible-AI governance practices within a regulated insurance environment. The role combines traditional data quality, metadata and taxonomy work with emerging AI-monitoring responsibilities.

You will help ensure that structured and unstructured data remains accurate, well-governed and fit for purpose while supporting the safe, transparent and compliant use of AI. This position suits an adaptable analyst who can work across technical and business functions, translate complex findings into clear insights and help embed practical governance controls., * Design, implement and maintain data-quality rules, profiling routines, controls and dashboards using enterprise data tools.

• Assess structured and unstructured data to identify anomalies, trends, control weaknesses and emerging risks.
• Develop and maintain metadata standards, classification models, taxonomies, ontologies and data-labelling structures.
• Document data lineage, processes, business rules and control frameworks to provide transparency and auditability.
• Build and operate AI-monitoring controls covering model performance, fairness, bias, drift and validation.
• Support model-testing activities including hold-out testing, cross-validation and performance measurement.
• Contribute to AI risk assessments, governance documentation and ongoing oversight.
• Conduct root-cause analysis and support reporting, investigations and wider analytical requirements.
• Work with data protection, risk, compliance, technology and business stakeholders to ensure data and AI solutions are appropriately governed.
• Help embed continuous improvements across data-management and responsible-AI standards, processes and tooling.

• Proven experience as a Data Analyst, with exposure to data quality, metadata management and general analytics.
• Strong SQL and Python skills for data analysis, profiling and control development.
• Experience designing or operating data-quality rules, profiling routines or automated validation controls.
• Experience working with structured and unstructured datasets.
• Strong understanding of metadata concepts including classification, lineage, taxonomies and ontology modelling.
• Knowledge of AI and machine-learning concepts, including model monitoring, drift detection, fairness and bias assessment.
• Exposure to model validation techniques such as hold-out testing and cross-validation.
• Ability to analyse complex data and translate technical findings into clear, business-focused insights.
• Strong documentation, communication and stakeholder-management skills.
• A structured, organised and detail-oriented approach, with the ability to manage concurrent workstreams and operate with limited supervision.
• A proactive learning mindset and an interest in evolving data and AI-governance practices.

Desirable but Not Essential:

• Experience within insurance, financial services or another regulated sector.
• Familiarity with UK GDPR, data-protection obligations and responsible-AI principles.
• Awareness of regulatory expectations relating to AI, including guidance from UK regulators and the EU AI Act.
• Experience supporting AI risk assessments or governance frameworks.
• Knowledge of enterprise data-quality, metadata or model-monitoring tools.
