Technical Consultant - Cloud Platform Engineering

Hays are now looking for a Technical Consultant - Cloud Platform Engineering.

• £615 p/d Inside IR35
• Remote (with a meeting once a month in London or Manchester)
• 6 month+ contract
• BPSS

Our client is looking for a hands-on Cloud Platform Engineer to support the build and delivery of a secure, enterprise-scale AI platform within HMRC. Focused on cloud engineering, AI service integration, automation, platform reliability and productionising AI/ML solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and deploy cloud-native AI platform components.
• Translate architecture designs into production-ready solutions.
• Develop scalable backend services, APIs and distributed systems.
• Implement Infrastructure as Code and automated deployment processes.
• Integrate AI services into enterprise applications and delivery pipelines.
• Support production AI/ML workloads.
• Ensure security, governance and compliance requirements are met.
• Optimise platform performance, resilience and reliability.

Essential Skills & Experience

Cloud & Platform Engineering

• Strong backend engineering and cloud platform development experience.
• Experience building production-grade cloud-native applications.
• Scalable API and distributed systems design and development.
• Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure, platform services and automation.

Infrastructure & Automation

• Terraform and Ansible.
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
• CI/CD and automated deployment pipelines.

AI & Machine Learning

• Experience integrating AI/ML services into enterprise environments.
• Amazon Bedrock experience.
• Understanding of AI/ML production deployment and operational support.

Security & Governance

• Experience working within regulated environments.
• Knowledge of security, governance and compliance requirements.
• Secure-by-design engineering principles.
