Mainframe DB2 Systems Programmer / DB2 Systems Administrator

DB2 Installation & Configuration

• Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain IBM DB2 for z/OS subsystems.
• Perform DB2 version upgrades, PTF/APAR implementation, patching, and system maintenance.
• Configure and maintain DB2 subsystem parameters and initialization settings.
• Manage and maintain:
• ZPARMs / DSNZPARM
• Buffer pools
• DB2 logs and BSDS
• DB2 catalog and directory
• Support certification testing and document operational procedures.

Performance & Capacity Management

• Monitor and troubleshoot DB2 system-level performance involving CPU, memory, and I/O.
• Tune and optimize:
• Buffer pools
• Locking and concurrency
• Threads and connections
• DB2 system resources
• Perform performance analysis and capacity planning using DB2 and mainframe monitoring tools.
• Support performance optimization initiatives across large-scale environments.

DB2 Data Sharing & High Availability

• Administer and support DB2 Data Sharing environments within z/OS Sysplex.
• Work with Coupling Facility integration.
• Support workload balancing, failover, and high-availability solutions.
• Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing.
• Support large-scale DB2 upgrades, migrations, and resiliency initiatives.

Troubleshooting & System Support

• Diagnose and resolve:
• DB2 subsystem failures
• Dumps, logs, and system abends
• DB2 connectivity issues
• Performance and availability problems
• Perform root-cause analysis and implement preventive solutions.
• Support integration with other mainframe subsystems, including:
• CICS
• IMS
• MQ
• Batch/JCL environments
• Distributed systems

DB2 Replication & Tools

• Support IBM DB2 replication technologies, including:
• Q Replication (QRep)
• SQL Replication
• CDC
• Perform installation, upgrades, maintenance, testing, and DR activities for replication products.
• Provide operational documentation and production support.

We are seeking an experienced Mainframe DB2 Systems Programmer / DB2 Systems Administrator to manage, support, and optimize IBM DB2 for z/OS subsystems within a mission-critical enterprise environment.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with DB2 systems programming, subsystem installation and configuration, performance tuning, Data Sharing/Sysplex, replication technologies, troubleshooting, and system maintenance.

Candidates must be located in or around the Phoenix, AZ metro area and able to work onsite 3 days per week. Relocation candidates willing to move to the Phoenix area will also be considered., * 7 12+ years of overall Mainframe experience.

• 3 5+ years of hands-on DB2 Systems Programming / DB2 Administration experience.
• Strong experience with IBM DB2 for z/OS.
• Hands-on experience with DB2 installation, configuration, upgrades, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Strong knowledge of:
• ZPARMs / DSNZPARM
• Buffer pools
• DB2 logs and BSDS
• DB2 catalog and directory
• DB2 subsystem configuration
• Experience with DB2 Data Sharing / Sysplex environments.
• Experience with DB2 replication products, preferably QRep, SQL Replication, and CDC.
• Strong troubleshooting and performance-tuning capabilities.
• Proficiency with:
• JCL
• TSO/ISPF
• SDSF
• Experience with SMP/E is preferred.
• Strong understanding of mainframe system interactions with CICS, IMS, and MQ.
