Back End Web Developer

We are seeking a highly experienced and visionary Lead Product Designer to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you will lead and manage our core product design team, consisting of three or more talented product designers. Your primary responsibility will be to define and execute user-centered design strategies that enhance our flagship product, a video recording and editing platform. You will work closely with Product and Engineering leadership to develop innovative features that improve how users record, edit, and view videos. Your expertise will be instrumental in shaping the future of our product, ensuring it remains competitive and aligned with customer needs. Additionally, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams including marketing and user research to create a seamless user journey and communicate the value of our product effectively. • Partner with Product & Engineering leadership to define and own user-centered strategy and oversee the design execution of new features aimed at improving video recording, editing, and viewing experiences.
• Proactively identify new problems and opportunities by working closely with user research and data analysis, proposing strategic solutions rooted in user needs.
• Collaborate with brand and marketing teams to ensure that user value is clearly communicated and integrated throughout the entire user journey.
• Work with engineering teams to develop a technical understanding that enables creative scoping, prioritization, and trade-off assessments.
• Utilize deep customer insights and market knowledge to inform product strategy and drive innovation that aligns with customer expectations and technological advancements.
• Stay current with emerging video trends, consumer products, and technological developments to ensure our offerings remain relevant and competitive.
• Partner with the broader Design leadership team to shape team culture, refine processes, and implement tools that support effective design practices.
• Co-own the evolution and maturity of our Lens Design System, ensuring consistency and scalability across products.
• Recruit, hire, and mentor outstanding product designers to build a high-performing team aligned with organizational goals.

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 8-10 years of experience in product design, with at least 3-4 years in a leadership capacity managing product design teams. A strong portfolio showcasing case studies in typography, interaction, visual design, and product sense is essential. You should have a deep understanding of interaction design principles, usability heuristics, and current trends in video and digital communication technologies. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are crucial for managing high-stakes discussions and collaborating effectively across teams. Experience working in organizations that have shipped software to users, partnering closely with product managers, engineers, and marketing teams, is highly desirable.
