TAK Lead Software Engineer / Product Owner

COLSA Corporation is seeking a Lead Software Engineer / Product Owner to support the U.S. Army’s Threat Systems Management Office (TSMO). This position will design, develop, integrate, test, and troubleshoot software solutions involving the Team Awareness Kit (TAK), including the integration of clients, servers, data pipelines, and other systems to deliver capabilities that meet end-user and government customer requirements. Principal Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential functions)

• Design and orchestrate systems of systems, including clients, servers, data pipelines, and other integrated components.
• Design, develop, test, and implement software programs using Java, C++, Python, React, Go, or similar technologies.
• Support software development and delivery using Jira and Kanban-based continuous flow processes.
• Set up and maintain development environments for Windows and Linux, including containerized environments.
• Perform merge request and pull request reviews to support software quality assurance.
• Develop and implement user-friendly interface requirements for software clients.
• Collaborate with team members and end users to analyze requirements, troubleshoot software issues, and deliver solutions that meet end-user and government customer requirements.
• Perform systems modeling, simulation, and analysis.
• Perform data analysis and provide input for reports and dashboards, as needed.
• Develop or oversee user training, troubleshooting materials, and step-by-step guides.
• Advise hardware design engineers on system characteristics that may affect software systems, as needed.

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or Software Engineering.
• Minimum of 8-12 years of related experience.
• Hands-on experience supporting systems integration efforts.
• Experience configuring and maintaining development environments, including Git-based version control, Linux operating systems, and Docker containerization.
• Experience with version control software and the Driessen branching model (Gitflow).
• Practical experience with front-end application development, including the implementation of responsive, user-focused interfaces.
• Experience designing, developing, and integrating custom interfaces, extensions, or plugins within existing software frameworks.

• Active Secret security clearance; U.S. Citizenship required. Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience leading software development teams.
• Experience with web development technologies such as React, HTML, CSS, or JavaScript.
• Natural Language Processing (NLP) experience using Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures with Large Language Models (LLMs).
• Computer vision experience with object detection or gait recognition using Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) and YOLO models., + Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
• Intermediate computer fluency, including Microsoft Office
• Valid driver’s license and regular access to a reliable vehicle
