Systems Administrator - Intermediate

Join the State of Alabama’s Office of Information Technology as a Systems Administrator - Intermediate, supporting enterprise infrastructure to ensure robust, secure, and efficient IT operations. This hands-on role involves managing Windows Server environments, Microsoft 365, Active Directory/Entra ID, virtualization platforms, backup and recovery systems, cloud storage, and related infrastructure. You will be responsible for installing, configuring, monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining critical systems, developing automation scripts, supporting disaster recovery exercises, and documenting procedures. Ideal candidates will excel in enterprise system administration with strong troubleshooting skills and a proactive approach to maintaining security and performance standards.

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Cybersecurity, or related field, or equivalent professional experience
• 5+ years of enterprise systems administration experience
• Extensive hands-on experience with Windows Server and Microsoft 365
• Proficiency with Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and identity/access management, including Microsoft Entra ID and hybrid identity environments
• Experience with Microsoft Intune and MECM/SCCM
• Knowledge of virtualization technologies such as VMware vSphere/ESXi/vCenter, Hyper-V, Nutanix AHV
• Strong background in enterprise backup and recovery systems, including Druva or similar platforms
• Skilled in troubleshooting across operating systems, hardware, virtualization, storage, network, and SaaS/cloud services
• Excellent communication, documentation, and customer service skills
