As a Data Scientist Manager Sr within PNC’s Data & Automation - AI Governance and Oversight organization, you will be based in Pittsburgh PA, Strongsville, OH, Dallas TX or Birmingham AL., * Builds and leads the enterprise AI testing and evaluation function, overseeing the design, execution, and continuous enhancement of testing frameworks for high-impact AI solutions.

• Owns a critical component of the Bank’s AI risk management strategy, including pre-deployment testing and post-deployment monitoring for generative and agentic AI solutions.
• Establishes AI performance, risk, and safety standards in partnership with Model Risk Management, including defining thresholds, monitoring criteria, and escalation triggers.
• Leads the response and escalation process for AI-related risks and incidents, ensuring timely execution of mitigation and containment actions, including solution pausing, patching, or deployment suspension when necessary.
• Provides technical leadership for a team of AI specialists, fostering expertise, collaboration, and delivery excellence across testing and evaluation initiatives.
• Serves as a hands-on practitioner-leader, actively contributing to technical strategy, testing methodologies, and problem-solving while leading day-to-day team activities.
• Demonstrates the ability to balance strategic leadership with technical execution, operating as both a people leader and subject matter expert in AI evaluation and governance.

Candidates should demonstrate strong proficiency in: Python, Microsoft Studio, Agent Builder, and Azure.

• Provides leadership, direction and methodology for Data Scientists to create appropriate models and data-driven solutions for the business.
• Recruits, trains, and develops best-in-class Data Scientists.
• Works with executive leadership to identify data science project opportunities and assists in planning activities including budget and scope determination.
• Oversees relationship with Data Architects, Data Analysts, Data Engineers and Visualization Experts to develop data-driven solutions for the business.

Work Experience

Roles at this level typically require a university / college degree. Higher level education such as a Masters degree, PhD, or certifications is desirable. Industry experience is typically 8+ years. At least 5 years of prior management experience is typically required. In lieu of a degree, a comparable combination of education, job specific certification(s), and experience (including military service) may be considered.
