As a PowerBuilder Developer, you will provide ongoing maintenance, production support, and troubleshooting for a critical legacy business application. This role focuses on maintaining application stability, diagnosing complex issues, implementing low-risk fixes, and supporting the organization’s existing systems while preparing for future platform modernization efforts. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working within an undocumented legacy environment, analyzing existing code, reverse-engineering business logic, and resolving application issues with minimal disruption. This role also offers opportunities to broaden technical expertise by supporting additional enterprise applications and evolving technology initiatives., Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve application incidents, defects, and support tickets. Diagnose issues involving PowerBuilder, DataWindows, PowerScript, SQL, Oracle databases, and application interfaces. Analyze existing application code, object inheritance structures, business logic, and data flows. Create and maintain technical documentation as system knowledge is developed. Communicate findings, risks, effort estimates, and recommended solutions to stakeholders and team members. Support application build, deployment, and release activities as required. 5+ years of hands-on PowerBuilder development experience, including support and maintenance of legacy applications. Strong experience troubleshooting and maintaining existing PowerBuilder applications in production environments. Advanced knowledge of DataWindows, including retrieval and update logic, computed columns, and nested/composite DataWindows. Strong PowerScript development skills, including event-driven programming and object inheritance involving windows, menus, and user objects. Proven ability to debug undocumented or unfamiliar codebases and determine system behavior through code analysis. Proficiency with PowerBuilder tools such as Object Browser, Find in PBLs, cross-reference reports, and dependency analysis tools. Strong SQL skills, including query analysis, optimization, and troubleshooting of DataWindow-embedded SQL. Experience working with Oracle databases and database-driven applications. Experience diagnosing and resolving application interface and data-processing issues. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to create clear technical documentation, deployment procedures, risk assessments, and change records. Experience with C# and Microsoft .NET application support is preferred. Familiarity with ASP.NET Web Forms, ASP.NET MVC, Web API, or ASP.NET Core is a plus. Experience supporting financial, budgeting, fund management, or enterprise business applications is desirable. Knowledge of source control, backup processes, build procedures, and release management practices for PowerBuilder applications is preferred.
