Senior SailPoint Identity (IIQ) Engineer/Technical Lead - Durham, NC

We are looking for our client, a global company in the life sciences sector, Senior SailPoint IdentityIQ (IIQ) Engineer to lead development, integration, upgrades, testing, troubleshooting, and technical governance across its on-premises and cloud SailPoint platforms. This role combines hands-on engineering, L3 production support, and technical leadership of a distributed development team. You will turn business and security requirements into scalable IAM solutions, while keeping the platform stable, secure, high-performing, and easy to maintain. You will work closely with architects, product owners, analysts, and the cybersecurity, infrastructure, HR, ITSM, and application teams., * Engineering: Design, configure, customize, and maintain IIQ solutions, including workflows, rules, lifecycle events, provisioning, certifications, policies, connectors, and Java/API-based extensions.

• Integration: Build and support integrations with HR systems, Active Directory/Entra ID, ServiceNow, SAP, security platforms, databases, and enterprise applications using REST, SOAP, SCIM, JDBC, LDAP, files, and event-based patterns.
• Upgrades and modernization: Lead platform upgrades, patches, and migrations, including impact assessments, remediation, test and rollback planning, performance validation, and the adoption of SailPoint Identity Security Cloud capabilities.
• L3 support and quality: Resolve complex production issues, perform root-cause analysis, improve monitoring and automated testing, and reduce recurring incidents and manual work.
• Technical leadership: Guide distributed developers, review designs and code, set reusable standards, estimate work, manage technical risks, and mentor the team.
• Architecture and governance: Make sure solutions follow enterprise IAM, cybersecurity, data-protection, coding, and architecture standards. Reduce technical debt and maintain essential documentation.
• Stakeholder collaboration: Translate requirements into practical solutions, communicate risks clearly, and identify opportunities for automation and a better user experience., * Stable, secure, and reliable SailPoint operations with fewer recurring incidents
• High-quality, maintainable development and successful upgrades with minimal disruption
• Timely delivery of scalable integrations, automation and IAM enhancements

• 7+ years of hands-on SailPoint Identity development and IAM/identity governance experience, including complex enterprise implementations and L3 support.
• Deep knowledge of IIQ architecture, object model, Java APIs, BeanShell, workflows, rules, tasks, identity lifecycle management, provisioning, aggregation, role management, access requests, and certifications.
• Proven experience leading major IIQ upgrades, including customization and connector assessment, remediation, regression testing, cutover, rollback and post-upgrade validation.
• Strong skills in Java/J2EE, XML, JSON, JavaScript, SQL, regular expressions, APIs, debugging, performance optimization, and secure coding.
• Experience with REST/SOAP services, SCIM, JDBC, LDAP, Active Directory/Entra ID, HR platforms, ServiceNow, SAP, and file-based integrations.
• Working knowledge of SailPoint Identity Security Cloud (IdentityNow), cloud connectors and APIs, lifecycle processes, and IIQ-to-cloud migration concepts.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD tools, automated testing and deployment, Linux/Unix, application servers, JVM troubleshooting, certificates, monitoring, high availability, and disaster recovery.
• Ability to lead independently across global teams, mentor developers, manage priorities, solve complex problems, and communicate clearly with technical and business stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

• SailPoint IdentityIQ or Identity Security Cloud certification
• Cybersecurity/IAM, ITIL, or cloud certification
• Experience leading global teams
• Experience in regulated enterprise environments
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
