• This role involves weekly on-site work and regular travel to client locations across the UK.

• Due to the nature of this role, you must either hold active Security Check (SC) clearance or be eligible and willing to undergo the clearance process.
• Typically, applicants must have UK citizenship and have lived continuously in the UK for at least the past five years, with no single absence exceeding 28 consecutive days.
• You should have experience as a Senior Software Developer and be able to demonstrate, with tangible examples, that you can lead the design and delivery of high-quality, user-centred services using Java or Scala.
• You should be able to use a range of technologies, including languages such as Kotlin, Ruby or JavaScript, to solve real problems in the right way.
• You should be able to design and build scalable, maintainable systems, considering performance, security and accessibility.
• You should be able to build quality into your work by embedding strong testing practices throughout delivery.
• You should have recent government (public sector) experience.
• You should be able to deliver complex digital services aligned to Government Digital Service (GDS) standards, supporting others to do the same.

We are partnering directly to hire for Opencast Software, a consultancy that cares more about engineering craft, clean design and thoughtful problem-solving than how fast developers ship tickets. We work in complex environments, value simple and robust solutions, and expect our consultants to think, challenge and guide as well as code. The role is varied, technical and collaborative, with opportunities for learning and development. The salary is £61,001 to £78,000 per annum, and what we offer includes a 7% employer pension contribution, share options, a discretionary bonus, 25 days holiday, three annual life happens days, wellbeing support, ongoing professional development, volunteering opportunities and a supportive team. The role requires regular on-site attendance at our HQ, hub offices and client sites, with home working also available, and interviews are conducted via Microsoft Teams.
