Software Engineer III, Mobile iOS, Health and Fitness

Google’s software engineers develop the next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. We’re looking for engineers who bring fresh ideas from all areas, including information retrieval, distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking and data storage, security, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, UI design and mobile; the list goes on and is growing every day. As a software engineer, you will work on a specific project critical to Google’s needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as you and our fast-paced business grow and evolve. We need our engineers to be versatile, display leadership qualities and be enthusiastic to take on new problems across the full-stack as we continue to push technology forward.

The Fitbit Mobile Foundations team builds elegantly crafted iOS code that runs smoothly on iPhones. We work closely with many other teams within the Fitbit product to ensure that we provide libraries and components of maximal benefit. You will join this team and help work on those projects as well as identify new ones.

Our iOS team is small enough that you get to influence the team’s culture. The Platforms and Devices team encompasses Google’s various computing software platforms across environments (desktop, mobile, applications), as well as our first party devices and services that combine the best of Google AI, software, and hardware. Teams across this area research, design, and develop new technologies to make our user’s interaction with computing faster and more seamless, building innovative experiences for our users around the world.

Responsibilities

• Write mobile applications, create robust high-volume production applications, and develop prototypes quickly.
• Craft elegant and functional user interfaces using modern frameworks.
• Drive designs for major mobile components and features. Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance mobile software solutions.
• Ensure a high level of quality implementing unit and integration tests as well as other mobile software architecture best practices.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver new features and products.

Experience driving progress, solving problems, and mentoring more junior team members; deeper expertise and applied knowledge within relevant area., * Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.

• 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
• 2 years of experience in mobile application development.
• Experience in health and fitness mobile app development.

Preferred qualifications:

• Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• Experience developing iOS applications and programming in Swift.
• 2 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
• Passion for crafting elegant and progressive user interfaces using modern frameworks.
• Familiarity and proven productivity with Artificial Intelligence (AI) toolchains.
