We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work to serve all employees fairly and efficiently., The TRIO News Media Specialist is responsible for the development, production, and management ofcommunications, graphic design, photography, video, audio, digital media, marketing, and promotionalmaterials supporting the University’s TRIO Programs. The position is a hands-on, production-oriented role responsible for maintaining a consistent workload and delivering quality work within established deadlines. The Specialist is expected to take initiative,manage projects from concept through completion, proactively identify opportunities to promote TRIO,and provide timely and professional support to all TRIO programs. Essential Duties Summary

  • Develops and produces TRIO flyers, brochures, newsletters, invitations, banners, presentations, advertisements, recruitment materials, social media graphics, and other promotional content.
  • Creates and manages digital content for TRIO websites, social media, electronic communications, and digital signage.
  • Provides professional photography, photo editing, video recording, video editing, and audio production for TRIO activities, events, students, staff, and accomplishments.
  • Develops promotional campaigns and media content supporting TRIO recruitment, outreach, participant engagement, events, and program visibility.
  • Documents TRIO activities and maintains an organized digital library of photographs, videos, publications, and other media assets.
  • Produces newsletters, program highlights, student success stories, and other communications showcasing TRIO accomplishments.
  • Provides media and communications support for orientations, workshops, conferences, summer programs, college tours, recruitment activities, recognition events, and other TRIO activities.
  • Develops materials for target-school outreach, student recruitment, parent engagement, and community partnerships.
  • Coordinates assigned communications and media projects with TRIO staff, University personnel, vendors, and external partners.
  • Maintains an inventory of TRIO media and office equipment and reports equipment needs or deficiencies.
  • Provides assigned operational and technical support for TRIO facilities, equipment, and digital media systems.

  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

WORKLOAD, PRODUCTIVITY & ACCOUNTABILITY The TRIO News Media Specialist is expected to maintain a consistent and productive workload appropriate to an exempt professional position.

  • Manages multiple projects and establishes priorities based on program needs and deadlines.
  • Takes ownership of assignments from initiation through completion.
  • Meets established deadlines and promptly communicates potential delays.
  • Proactively identifies TRIO activities, accomplishments, and communication opportunities requiring media coverage.
  • Maintains an active project list and organized records of completed work.
  • Produces measurable work products that demonstrate completion of assigned responsibilities.
  • Uses work time effectively and demonstrates initiative without requiring continuous direction.
  • Responds timely to requests and follows assignments through to final completion.
  • Maintains professional standards, accuracy, quality, confidentiality, and compliance with University policies.

% FTE .1 Hiring Range $45,486.69 - $57,995.53

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Graphic Design, Marketing, Digital Media, Media Production, or related field., Communications, public relations, marketing, graphic design, photography, digital media, social media, website management, publication production, and University policies and branding standards.

Skill in: Graphic design, photography, video/audio production, digital content creation, publication management, project management, multitasking, time management, and professional communication.

Ability to: Work independently, manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, take initiative, produce professional-quality work, communicate effectively, adapt to changing program needs, and maintain accountability for assigned projects and deliverables Work Experience Required:

  • One (1) to two (2) years of relevant professional experience.

Preferred:

  • Experience in higher education, TRIO, student services, communications, or marketing.
  • Experience with graphic design, photography, video/audio production, social media, and website management.
