Lead Solution Architect

• Lead a team of architects and set the teams direction.
• Contribute to our Solution, Design and Architecture Senior Leadership team.
• Challenge the status quo and deliver value through improved, coherent architecture.
• Work with Enterprise Architecture colleagues to create solutions aligned with HMRCs IT strategy and business outcomes.
• Work with delivery teams and partners to ensure solution designs are implemented.
• Manage architecture for major programmes, including those with significant size and complexity, and keep programmes aligned with business and technical strategies.
• Use an agile approach to solve problems from shaping through design to delivery, creating proof of concepts, prototypes and technical or functional spikes to explore ideas and reduce delivery risk.
• Engage senior stakeholders, articulate solution architecture to the business and help drive transformational change and delivery.

• Security, We are HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC), seeking technical leaders for Lead Solution Architect roles in our Government Digital and Data Profession. The roles are available in Birmingham, Bristol, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle upon Tyne, Telford, Worthing, Stratford-upon-Avon, Reading, Edinburgh and other locations in Scotland. The salary range is £71,725-£87,612 per year, with access to a capability-based allowance subject to assessment and role requirements. Colleagues are generally expected to spend 60% of their working time in the office, with home working available where the role and circumstances allow. The role may require office-location changes at certain sites, and travel and overnight stays may be required.

• Demonstrate the ability to develop solutions quickly for legislative changes across multiple projects.
• Provide high-level impact assessments for Invest to Raise Measures and Spending Review portfolio-level designs.
• Bridge business strategy and technology for senior non-technical stakeholders, and engage stakeholders at all levels.
• Have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to translate between business and technology.
• Be a collaborative problem solver who can identify root causes and develop pragmatic IT solutions with colleagues.
• Have designed customer-facing and/or internal IT solutions that deliver tangible benefits.
• Build and facilitate relationships with indirect stakeholders.
• Learn new technologies, architecture concepts and styles quickly, assess their strengths and weaknesses, and apply that knowledge.
• Work at pace while managing architectural risks.
• Be willing to travel and stay overnight when required.
• A TOGAF, BCS or CITP qualification, or progress toward one, is desirable.
