Data Architect - Active SC, DV Clearable - Perm

• Engage with internal and external stakeholders to understand business requirements, provide strategic guidance and ensure data solutions meet their objectives
• Support the design, development and implementation of secure, scalable data architectures aligned with security, performance and scalability requirements
• Architect and deploy secure, cloud-native solutions for batch and real-time data processing using AWS and other cloud platforms
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to cross-functional teams on data architecture, security and cloud computing best practices
• Use Apache Flink and other streaming technologies to build real-time data processing systems for large-scale, high-throughput workloads
• Ensure data solutions comply with industry standards and government regulations, maintaining data security and integrity
• Monitor technical deliverables against designs, and manage and report on design divergences
• Support sales and pre-sales teams with expert advice and proposal input, ensuring technical feasibility and alignment with client needs
• Advise on breaches of data standards and recommend resolutions
• Keep up to date with developments in cloud technologies, data architecture and security, applying that knowledge to improve our offerings

We are partnering with a specialist organisation at the forefront of data modernisation across the public sector. These Lead and Senior Data Architect roles support complex, critical, high-profile projects. The role is remote while holding SC clearance; once DV clearance is obtained, it requires four days per week on-site in Cheltenham. The stated salary ranges are £91,000-£114,000 for Principal and £110,000-£130,000 for Lead. • Minimum of 6 years experience in data architecture, focused on secure, large-scale, complex projects
• Must hold active SC clearance and be able to undergo DV clearance
• Extensive experience with AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda and Redshift
• Hands-on experience with Apache Flink for real-time data processing
• Experience with other cloud providers, such as Azure or GCP, is advantageous
• Experience mentoring and managing teams, developing talent and fostering collaboration
• Ability to engage with and influence senior stakeholders, translating their needs into actionable technical plans
• Proficiency in data modelling, ETL processes, data warehousing, distributed systems and metadata systems
• Experience with public cloud services and cloud working practices, including a DevOps-centric approach
• Experience working with sensitive data and, ideally, with cyber security specialists
• Ability to understand and apply recognised data modelling patterns and standards
• Scala and Spark skills are desirable
