• Design, build, and integrate software within a feature team, working with Engineering Leads, Product Owners, and Quality Engineers.
• Develop and support production-grade code, focusing on scalable, reusable solutions and enterprise-level controls such as parallelism, resilience, and cost optimisation.
• Deliver secure, scalable, high-quality DevOps capabilities across cloud-native platforms.
• Design, build, and operate CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Harness, Jenkins, GitHub, and Terraform, helping teams deploy confidently and independently.
• Engineer Kubernetes-native solutions across public and private cloud environments, including workload orchestration, Istio-based networking, and storage class management.
• Integrate security and compliance tools such as SonarQube and AquaSec into automated workflows.
• Automate manual processes and develop self-service capabilities to reduce operational overhead.
• Collaborate across complex platforms and communicate with technical and non-technical colleagues.
• Contribute to team planning and the ongoing development of DevOps capabilities.
• Help teams own and operate their delivery pipelines, fostering a culture of enablement.
• Share knowledge through Communities of Practice and support continuous improvement through hands-on learning and experimentation.

• microservices, Were hiring a Senior DevOps Engineer for our Transport Platform team, part of the Consumer Lending Business Unit. Were transforming our technology through cloud-native architecture, microservices, a new data ecosystem, and DevOps and Agile ways of working. The role is full-time, based in Newport or Cardiff, with a hybrid working pattern requiring at least two days per week or 40% of working time at one of those offices. • Were looking for experience delivering secure, scalable, high-quality DevOps capabilities on cloud-native platforms as part of a multifunctional engineering team.
• You have experience designing, building, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Harness, Jenkins, GitHub, and Terraform, including federation patterns such as overrides and config maps.
• You have experience engineering Kubernetes-native solutions in GCP environments, including workload orchestration, Istio-based networking, and storage class management.
• You have experience with GCP platform services, including databases such as Spanner, BigQuery, and AlloyDB or Cloud SQL, as well as GCS buckets and IAM permissions and controls.
• You have experience integrating security and quality tools such as SonarQube and AquaSec into automated pipelines to ensure compliance and maintain strong guardrails.
• You have a background in automating manual processes to improve efficiency and enable self-service capabilities, using an automation-first approach.
• You communicate effectively with technical and non-technical groups and have experience working with multiple collaborators across complex platforms.
• Experience with Liquibase for database schema management and familiarity with Nexus Repository for artefact management are advantageous.
• Exposure to observability platforms such as Dynatrace is advantageous.
• Experience supporting teams with issue investigations and remediation plans following high-impact incidents is desirable.
