Senior Systems Engineer - Motorsport

Reporting to the Principal Controls Engineer, the Senior Controls System Engineer will be a key member of the Motorsport Engineering team. This would see you being responsible for the development, validation, delivery and support of the complete vehicle control systems used across the entire range of McLaren Motorsport Vehicles.What You’ll DoSupport the development of mechatronic control systemsData mining, analysis and disseminationTrackside support for development testing and customer events as requiredSupport dynamometer / test bed rigging and calibration activitiesHarvest mathematical modelling techniques to describe vehicle, powertrain and actuator behaviourDevelop technical capabilities and tools as required by the businessSupport the analysis of field issues and provide relevant solutionsWhat You’ll BringEducated to Degree level in an Engineering or Computer Science DisciplineModel-based application software coding in MATLAB/SimulinkAbility to code and willingness to learn different coding languages if requirements dictate”Can-do” attitude and ability to work under pressurePersonal interest in electromechanical systems and engines would be desirablePrevious experience in a Motorsport or OEM environment preferred but not essentialInterest in Electronic Controls Systems and Automotive EE ArchitecturesExperience of Powertrain or transmission control systems development.HIL and in-vehicle testing and validation.Vehicle-based software calibrationExcellent knowledge of Automotive network protocols, e.g. CAN, LIN, UDS, and EthernetUnderstanding of vehicle-level system integration in terms of hardware and softwareNaturally technical, able to employ fundamental engineering principles to solve problemsExcellent attitude towards teamworkClear thinker with an open mind to absorb new knowledge.Delivery focused & self-motivated to deliver excellence and perform beyond targets.Strong communication skills through all mediumsGood organisational skills and, ability to manage
