Job description

Build and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performance backend systems.
Help build and regularly ship software as part of a professional software engineering team.
Develop and maintain backend applications using Ruby and Ruby on Rails.
Design and develop RESTful APIs and backend services.
Work with databases, background jobs, caching, and third-party integrations.
Write clean, testable, and maintainable code.
Troubleshoot performance and production issues.
Collaborate with frontend, QA, DevOps, and product teams.
Participate in system design and code reviews.

Requirements

Strong commercial experience with Ruby and Ruby on Rails.
Professional experience with other backend technologies, such as Node.js, Python, Java, or .NET.
Strong experience with PostgreSQL/MySQL and database optimisation.
Experience with REST APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
Experience with Redis, Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar backend technologies.
Experience with Docker, CI/CD, and at least one cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
Strong testing experience with RSpec, Minitest, or equivalent.
Good understanding of Git, software architecture, security, and performance optimisation.
