OpenAI Engineer (Cyber Security)

• Design and build AI-powered solutions using OpenAI technologies and APIs.
• Develop proof-of-concepts and prototypes to support SOC and cyber security operations.
• Create AI assistants, copilots and agent-based workflows to enhance analyst productivity.
• Implement Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions using enterprise knowledge sources.

• Establish evaluation frameworks to measure effectiveness, accuracy and business value.

• Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to identify and validate high-value AI use cases.
• Produce demonstrations, technical documentation and recommendations for future AI adoption.

• Splunk, We are offering a remote opportunity for an experienced OpenAI Engineer to help shape AI-enabled cyber defence within a large public sector environment. You will work at the intersection of generative AI, cyber security operations and innovation, alongside Solution Architects, Business Analysts and cyber security specialists. The role focuses on developing intelligent solutions that enhance SOC capabilities, improve operational efficiency, automate investigative tasks and support security analysts. • Experience developing solutions using the OpenAI Platform and APIs.
• Strong understanding of Large Language Models (LLMs) and Generative AI technologies.
• Hands-on experience with prompt engineering and AI optimisation techniques.
• Proven experience implementing RAG architectures and knowledge retrieval solutions.
• Knowledge of agentic AI and multi-agent orchestration frameworks.
• Experience building AI assistants, copilots or conversational AI applications.
• Strong Python development skills and experience with modern AI frameworks.
• Experience working with vector databases and semantic search technologies.
• Understanding of Security Operations Centre (SOC) processes and cyber security operations.
• Knowledge of AI evaluation methodologies, testing frameworks and performance measurement.
• Understanding of Responsible AI, security, governance and risk management principles.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Desirable experience with AI solutions within cyber security or threat detection environments.
• Experience with Microsoft Sentinel, Splunk, QRadar or other SIEM platforms.
• Experience with SOAR platforms and security automation tooling.
• Experience with cloud platforms including Azure, AWS or Google Cloud.
• Public sector or government project experience.
• Active SC Clearance.
