Job description

Wireless Network/Cabling Engineer - Designs, configures, tests, implements and maintains telecommunications capabilities, including wide area and local area networks. Performs operations and support activities. Familiar with hardware and software diagnostic tools., o Provide updates to design documentation based on RF survey results, showing recommended AP mounting locations.

o Document the necessary changes to achieve adequate installation location. o Take digital pictures of the existing locations and markup with changes, as needed.

o Note significant factors affecting RF propagation and determine potential mounting assets.

o Pull all wireless Cat6 cabling to be used for all installations.

o Install, configure, test, over 800 WAP’s.

o Install, configure, test, and document the implementation of Cisco wireless controllers for Client WLANs

o Install, configure, test, and document the implementation of Cisco wireless controller for Guest WLAN

o Configure, test, and document the implementation of new Cisco Prime Infrastructure appliance

o Conduct a post-deployment Wireless Validation Survey, document wireless coverage, and determine areas of poor performance

o Provide documentation of findings and recommendations of wireless modifications

o Perform testing and validation of successful implementation

o Complete all necessary project design documentation A

Additional On-Site Work:

· Unbox equipment and prepare a work area for equipment.

· Install configurations and test for any equipment anomalies.

· Inform Prime Contractor of need to replace any equipment that does not burn in correctly.

· Notify Prime Contractor of any additional needs that are discovered during the burn-in process and prepare equipment for delivery to each respective location.

· Tag each device with an EOIR asset tag and add to provided inventory spreadsheet.

· Provide inventory spreadsheets for each installation.

Implementation Tasks:

· Work with Prime Contractor to create the WLAN configuration, including but not limited to:

· Work with Prime Contractor to understand and implement its current IP addressing scheme.

· Review naming convention.

· Create a virtual LAN (VLAN) plan based on existing use.

· Determine Quality and Class of Service (QoS/CoS) configurations necessary to support multiple classes of traffic and queue prioritization based on documented best practices.

· Discuss configuration options for increased WLAN reliability and performance.

· Implement Cisco Prime fault monitoring, dashboards, performance monitoring, QoS monitoring, diagnostics and testing, reporting, and analytics.

· Verify existing Cisco Wireless Control System (WCS)/Network Control System (NCS)/Prime Infrastructure configuration.

· Back up existing WCS

· Configure two wireless controllers Post Implementation Verification

· Conduct a post-deployment Wireless Validation Survey after wireless system has selftuned.

· Review desired coverage areas and non-coverage areas with Client representative.

· Conduct a Wireless Validation Survey to record data to determine areas of poor performance.

· Produce a high-level findings report with graphical representation of the data gathered.

· Wireless Optimization Make modifications to existing AP placement, antenna orientation, and/or equipment configurations, to optimize system-wide performance.

Requirements

The candidate should have a minimum of seven years of experience in, but not limited to, the following areas, along with a B.S. Degree and Certifications in Networking and/or Security. CCNA Required.

o RF propagation, and determine recommended mounting assets.
