Principal Desktop Platform Engineer

As a Principal Desktop Platform Engineer, you will drive the design, modernization, and automated lifecycle management of client platform architectures across a large-scale enterprise environment. Stepping beyond frontline desktop support, this role functions as a high-tier engineering position centered on platform optimization, endpoint security harding, application packaging, and advanced systems automation. You will architect and maintain core operating system builds spanning Windows and thin-client (e.g., HPE ThinPro) platforms, engineer enterprise-wide software deployment pipelines, and leverage PowerShell to automate manual workflows. Collaborating closely with cross-functional network, cloud, identity, and security teams, you will perform deep root-cause diagnostics on complex system dependencies while engineering resilient next-generation endpoint solutions that enhance performance, security, and user experience.

Proven experience administering, configuring, and optimizing enterprise-grade Windows client platform environments. -Hands-on experience building, tailoring, hardening, and deploying standardized desktop OS images. -Expertise in software packaging, configuration management, automated deployment pipelines, and post-installation maintenance. -Practical proficiency with PowerShell (or similar scripting languages) to automate system tasks and streamline repetitive operational workflows. -Strong analytical capabilities to perform root-cause analysis on complex OS, software, and system interaction issues. -Ability to manage concurrent technical priorities and drive initiatives forward with minimal oversight in a fast-paced environment. -Strong verbal and written communication skills to partner effectively across engineering disciplines., Experience configuring and managing HPE ThinPro or alternative thin-client endpoints. -Hands-on experience with enterprise endpoint management systems (e.g., MECM/SCCM, Intune, or Tanium). -Expertise in automating OS image builds, application installations, and system configurations. -Familiarity with endpoint security hardening, GPOs, baseline configurations, and compliance controls. -Skill in resolving complex network, directory authentication (AD/Kerberos), and app integration dependencies. -Track record of engineering client platform solutions across large-scale, distributed environments. -Additional proficiency in scripting or programming languages such as Python or VBScript. -Ability to author standard operating procedures, architecture designs, and technical deployment guides.

Education/Certification Requirements -Level II 8570 Certification (Security+ CE or equivalent)
